when do you use a tandem v. SBS?

I just found a used Contours for a pretty good price. I'm now trying to imagine when I would use it instead of our Combi so I explain the need for it to my DH   For those of you with multiple strollers, when do you use a tandem instead of a SBS?

For over a year I hardly ever used my tandem stroller.  I prefer my SBS, but sometimes the narrow tandem was just necessary, like the occasional trip to the mall or other store with narrow aisles.  Now that they're old enough to walk holding my hand (and prefer to most of the time) the only time I use a stroller is if we're going to a place like that, where there is quite a bit of walking and/or I wouldn't be able to keep track of them walking and shop.  So now the tandem gets used more than my SBS for sure, even though it's still only used a couple times a month or so.  I actually can't remember the last time I used my SBS.

When we lived in NY, we used a tandem b/c everything was so narrow and lots of people congesting the sidewalks, etc.

I was happy to convert to my Maclaren SBS b/c one DD would always kick and push on the seat in front of other DD in the tandem and it limited them from being able to see and observe everything like the baby sitting in the front.
