Inguinal hernia

Anyone's LO have one of these? DS is getting his surgically repaired next week and I know it's a routine procedure but of course am so worried about it!

One of my girls had this.  It was on both sides.  It is routine and she was sore for a few days but bounced right back.  GL!

One of my boys had a double hernia repair at 6 weeks. Honestly, I think it was worse for me than for him. He only seemed to be uncomfortable for the first night (the night of the surgery) and even then, he didn't seem to be in extreme pain, just uncomfortable. After that he didn't seem to have much discomfort at all. For me, the worst part was right after surgery in recovery when he was still coming out of anesthesia. It was so sad to see him all loopy :-( But it was really pretty easy overall for him. Good luck!

James had this done when he was only 20 days old.  I agree with PP that it is harder on us than them!  He was uncomfortable for the first 24 hours b/c of the anesthesia but did great once that wore off.

ETA: I just saw that he was born at 33 weeks.  Did they mention keeping him overnight or are they doing it as an outpatient?  They kept James for 24 hours to monitor even though it is normally an outpatient procedure b/c of his age and also b/c he was born a little early.

DS had a inguinal hernia and small hydrocele.  One morning when he was going to the bathroom and his testicle was swollen and alittle discolored.  He was 3.5 yrs old.  He had outpatient surgery about a week and a half later.

Thanks - I have a feeling it will be harder on me too and yes, they will keep him overnight - kind of a PITA but I prefer it just to be on the safe side...
