I have ground beef and pork chops in my fridge, both with use by dates of March 1st. Do you think I can use the ground beef for dinner tonight (so one day over recommended)? How about the pork chops? Would you freeze them tonight and use them in a few days? Or would you throw everything out?

Um, use them if they smell ok. They don't magically go bad on the use by date (is it use by or sell by?). If you can only use one in the next couple days, freeze one and use it when you have time.

This, but if they've been previously frozen, do NOT refreeze them.

I'd throw them out.  Even if they were okay, I couldn't eat them knowing they might not be, it would gross me out.

We just ate the beef for dinner. It smelled okay and I cooked it fully. Let's hope nobody is sick tomorrow!
