DC nights and days mixed up!

Anyone else have this, so many people tell me to just keep my DS up during the day to make him sleep at night and I just can not bring myself to do this, I figure he will get it fixed on his own.  He is not bad, he sleeps about 2 1/2 to 3 hours at a time at night and wakes for feedings, but during the day he will sleep for a good 6-8 hours straight, I try to sleep when he does but it is hard.

Anyone else going through this or have gone through it, any suggestions other than trying to keep him awake during the day.

Re: DC nights and days mixed up!

  • Trying to keep him awake can actually backfire. Ignore that "advice." When DS was a little backwards, I learned that he'd do better at night (and stay awake on his own a bit more during the day) when we got out in the fresh air and natural light. We'd go for stroller walks and run an errand every day. Even if he snoozed in the car seat for a bit, it wasn't a full night's sleep bit, and seeing/hearing new things seemed to help him conk out better when it was bedtime.

  • My little one seems to be a little like that now...he's very alert around 5-7 p.m. and will stay up LATE.  I hope his schedule changes soon!
  • I don't think I can keep DD up during the day if I tried. She has me on a schedule, and there's nothing I can do about it!
