My best friend is expecting twins in May. Her baby shower is in April. Is it appropriate for me to buy one big gift rather than something for her shower and something for the birth? I am across the country and won't be attending the actual shower, but will be skyping in. I'd just rather buy her a $120 playpen than split that cost between two smaller gifts but don't want to be rude about it. Normally I wouldn't buy a gift for a shower that I'm not attending, but she is my best friend...
