We bit the bullet this weekend and put L in her crib on Friday night. It was a little rough... she woke up crying 3 or 4 times during the night and we went upstairs to find her in some awkward position in the crib (which is what woke her up, I imagine).
We decided to keep being persistent and put her in again on Saturday night. She woke up once because of a loud noise (the dog knocked something over), but other than that, she slept the whole night through. Yesterday, we packed up the pack and play. Last night, she slept the whole night through... no stirring. I think it was harder on me than it was on her, and she's now sleeping in there like a champ. We do have a crib wedge (which I think makes it feel a little more homey). But all in all it's been a good experience and I feel a lot better with her in a safer place. I was always worried about her smothering on the plush stuff in the napper. Hope this helps! I'd say just go for it! : ))
Re: ::OilyO:: (regarding Newborn Napper transition)
This is how I felt for a long time, too... I didn't want to mess up her awesome sleeping patterns, but it's really better for them to be in their cribs! I actually feel that she's safer in there... plus she had to scrunch up her little legs to fit in the darn thing!
Yeah, and I just felt so bad that she was all cramped up! Go Maci and Lainey!! That's funny that you hid it from yourselves! It's so tempting when you know they will sleep that well. And I think it has to do with them being bigger now... like she doesn't feel quite as insecure as she did when she was smaller. *Tear* for babies growing up!!
I bet he'll do better than you think! Lainey also was not napping well in her crib (which added to my hesitancy). Maybe try a crib wedge... it elevates them just a bit like the napper does.
Mmmmmmm. (Marge Simpson skeptical noise.) I've only had 4 days of sleep since November. I can wait another week or so, right?
Right?
I feel bad that her legs are scrunched, too, but I REALLY want to lock in this new sleep pattern before messing it up. When I've put her in her crib for a nap it lasted about 5 minutes...
gaahhh im not so brave yet. she still only sttn (by which i mean 5-6 hours) sometimes. i think she would hate the crib, but is getting too long for the napper. our plan is to try moving her into the PnP bed this weekend (when i can afford to be up all night), then in a few months move the PnP into her room then transition her into the crib.
those that have transitioned out of the napper - do you still swaddle at night?
This is what happened to me. LO started STTN for about a week so I was worried if we moved him to the crib it might mess things up. LO was getting to big for the RnP though and was actually waking up because he was uncomfortable. We moved him to the crib, and he is STTN like a champ! He does great! I was also really worried about him waking up DS1 who shares a room with him, but they both sleep great!
