Toddlers: 24 Months+

He's crying and just keeps saying "ow"

I don't know what to do! It's 8:15 and he had a breathing treatment at 6pm. He had Motrin at 4:45. He has been coughing but he's had a ton of water/milk/juice and we gave him some honey to coat his throat.

I don't know what else to do. He wont say where it hurts or even stay upset when we're in there.

Is he just doing it for attention?

  • will he lay in bed and read a book?  Maybe he just needs something to take his mind off of his sore throat.

  • I agree with pp maybe just a little extra attention in a different direction will get him to rest. Good Luck!

  • When was the last time his ears were checked? Sometimes throat pain can be deferred up into the ear. Have you tried giving him a sucker to suck on. I let DS have suckers when he has a sore throat.

I hope your little man gets feeling better soon. The bugs that are floating around right now are vicious!

We ended up going into the ER (per pedi advice) and he has a pretty strong infection in his right ear. Which is weird since we were at the pedis office on Friday and she checked him.

Anyway, they did a breathing treatment and gave him IB and Amoxacillan.
