So frustrated. LO is almost 7 months and weighs a little over 14 pounds. I weighed her today and she hasn't gained anything (but didn't lose either) in one month. Between months 4 and 5, she had the same problem. She was able to gain a pound between months 5 and 6, and now - she's back to not gaining anything. She seems healthy, happy, hitting all milestones. She's in the 70th percentile for height so she is growing. Dr. initially wasn't concerned, but I know that she'll suggest supplementing soon bc of the second month of no weight gain.
Thing is, I'm pretty sure she's getting enough milk. I nurse her 2-3 times per day, plus she gets 3 5oz bottles at daycare a day. She's also eating solids - not a lot, just a little bit. Any ideas on why my little peanut isn't gaining consistently? I've done research and am now scared to death about celiac disease, etc. I don't think supplementing will help since I doubt it's because she's not eating enough. Could it be that my milk isn't fatty enough? When I nurse, I let her stay on for a long time, on one side, before switching.
This is frustrating.... thanks, ladies.
Re: No weight gain in a month - again
have you looked at the charts for Breast-fed babies? they have two different growth charts, because bf and ff babies grow differently.
The 2000 CDC growth charts can be used to assess the growth of exclusively breast-fed infants, however when interpreting the growth pattern one must take into account that mode of infant feeding can influence infant growth. In general, exclusively breast-fed infants tend to gain weight more rapidly in the first 2 to 3 months. From 6 to 12 months breast-fed infants tend to weigh less than formula-fed infants.
but here is a link that may help:
