  • I have a Nissan Murano, I love everything about it. It's comfortable and I think it looks nice

  • When it was just the 5 of us, it was the Toyota Camry. Now with numero 6 on the way, we bought a Honda Odyssey.

  • I have a 2007 Saturn Ion - LOVE IT!! I know LO isn't here yet, and I bought it before conceiving, but it really is a great family car!

4 seats ? cup holders in front AND back ? huge trunk and lots of leg room in the back seat!

It has the oomph to get-up & go, great breaks. It's a 4 door, but the back ones are suicide doors, so it looks sporty still.

    I'm 23, so it's nice to have a sleek/affordable car.

  • Right now I have a CRV and because I'm not working I can't upgrade.

I like the Odyssey and Pilot.  I refuse to buy Toyota. DS wants me to consider the Nissan van.  When it comes time I will test drive them all.

I'm also torn between an SUV and a van so I guess the test drive will help me decide.

  • I hope one day we can get an SUV

But for Now it's our Car a Pontiac Sunfire. It does the job and is a safe car.

  • New Honda Pilot, love it!

  • Acura MDX.  I love it for a number of reasons.  First, it has optional 3rd row seating.  I don't need the 3rd row most of the time so I keep it folded down (still looks great this way) to have extra trunk space and room for the dogs.  I love that it's an extrememly safe vehicle and is comfortable for everyone (even people in the 3rd row...though I do make smaller ones get back there).  It looks great, has all the amenities I wanted in a car, and will have a great resale/trade in value if I want to switch in the future.

  • We just traded my plymouth neon in for a Honda Odyssey.  We went for reliability and functionality.  I'm all about the power sliding doors, space and roof rack!  We've only had it about 2 weeks, but I'm loving it.

Before this our "family" car was DH's nissan maxima.  It was definitely a squeeze for the 3 of us to go on vacation for a week with all of our stuff.  There was no way we'd be able to do it with 2 kids.

  • I drive an 08 Jeep Patriot. I LOVE it. We living up in the mountains and we needed something that was 4 wheel drive, DH and I also wanted something we could take up for some of the off road stuff we do. It also gets ok gas milage for it's size, and I can easily throw all the baby stuff in the back, and we can get two carseats in the back seat easily.

We felt comfortable with the safety ratings and I trust Jeep 100%. Plus we got a great deal on it. I am so happy with it and I don't think I will ever drive anything but a jeep. The other car we were looking into was a Subaru Outback, but this one basically feel into our lap.

  • We've got an Acura MDX as well - love it so much, though I'm used to driving my smaller TL and it can feel huge. Like PP said, huge trunk, 3rd row seat, we have the DVD headrests, and I'm expecting we get 10 years out of it - easy.

  • A 4-runner.  I love it.  It has a lot of space in the back, and is comfortable.

This. Also, mine is paid for, so that makes it our optimal family car. If we were buying, we'd still try for an SUV, but maybe smaller. The gas is killer at the moment.

  • We have a Honda CRV and love it.  Sporty, easy to drive, high off the ground and we have fit an amazing amount of stuff in it.  Lots of room and cargo space without being huge and a gas guzzler.  Before DH lost his job, we were talking about getting a newer car and there was no question it would be another CRV.  We just love it.

  • I have a 4Runner, although I'd like a car, it's paid off and I have no desire to drop $35K right now on another car!
  • Nissan Xterra.  Love it!  We can bring both the dogs everywhere and also fit everything and everyone in the truck.  Plus, it goes everywhere which is necessary in Colorado!  :)
  • I have a Pontiac Sunfire and DH has a Pontiac Vibe.

  • i wish i wish i wish i could buy a new car right now :(
if i could get what i want, i want a jeep liberty.

but for now i am driving a 2003 chevy cavalier. boo. however, our "family car" will be my FI's car. a 2010 chevy impala. 4 doors. it rides great and it is quiet inside and is better on gas than an suv and the trunk is really spacious for being just a car.
  • Subaru Forrester XLT Turbo.  Great car!!  Very safe, smooth drive, AWD, moon roof, heated seats, airbags everywhere and awesome storage and leg room.  I am very loyal to the Subaru family!

  • I just traded in my 02 Saturn Vue for a 08 Saturn Vue.  I love it!

  • I drive a Jeep Compass. I call it my mini Cheroke. Lol. I absolutely love it! I've always wanted an SUV and will stick with one as long as I can. I refuse to get a minivan, and no, not because they're "uncool." My mom had one and I drove it throughout high school. If I'm driving something that big I want to sit up higher, not feel like I'm sitting in a sedan. Our other car is a Hybrid Civic, so definitely fuel efficient.

  • We just got the 2011 Ford Edge Limited and I LOVE it.

Short front end so it has a great turning radius, very peppy, spacious. We got the sunroof and the Sony console which is gorgeous. I also love the Ford Sync. I talk to the car to get directions, change music on my MP3 player and tell it who to call when I need to make a call on my cell phone. Totally hands free calling, because the microphone in the car pics up all my speech and it plays the caller through the speaker system.

    Sticker price was 36,9

We compared it to the highlander, murano, equanox, traverse, and sorrento and this won our hearts hands down.

  • We are a ford family. We both have our own trucks, a 150 and my 250 (mines for my horse trailer), which I love. But last year we bought an Escape, to be our family car. And I love it. It's big enough for us, two little ones (if we decide to have a second) and all three of our dogs. Plus it's roomy, and comfy all the way through.

  • Right now, it is a Honda CRV. I adore my car. Love love love. But we are buying a new car late spring or early summer. Either going to be a brand new CRV or an Oddessy. I want an Oddessy for the space, but don't want to drive a van. I love my CRV so much, I want another... But worried about the lack of space with 2 seats in back. Not sure what we will buy....

  • We're in a VW Golf right now.  It's going to be mighty squishy once LO arrives, but we're in no place to upgrade right now.

We'll have to get a new (to us) car once LO#2 is out of the infant seat.  We're looking at Subaru Outbacks or Legacys.  I like that they're low to the ground, and once we're back into our winter sports we'll need AWD/4WD.  We also have a medium sized dog and may get one more in a year or 2 and those cars have huge amounts of hatch space.

  • we drive an '06 Chrysler sebring sedan. i love it because it looks fantastic (for me, it has to be 'pretty'), it gets great gas mileage, and has a huge trunk. the three of us should fit just fine. [:
  • LOVE LOVE LOVE my Honda Odyssey! I love the sliding doors, love the space inside (took my whole family to look at Xmas lights and we all fit comfortably!), love the ease of the seats folding down, love how it drives (better than the Sienna in my opinion)... honestly... I love this car and I am so glad that I got it. My sister has 1 kid and going on a trip for even a weekend can manage to fill up her van... my brothers both have vans too with 2 and 3 kids and they couldn't survive without it... so if you plan to have more than 1 kid in the next 10 years, I suggest a van! I opted for the van over the SUV for the ease of the 3rd row for friends and family... and eventually buckling in kids! :)

  • We bought a new Ford Escape back in August and we love it! It's much roomier than the car I was driving before, but not too big. We'll upgrade to a full size SUV when we have more kids, but for now this small SUV is great!

  • We have a GMC Acadia.  We definitely like it alot.  Good space for the kids and enough space for all the junk we need in the back!

A 4-runner.  I love it.  It has a lot of space in the back, and is comfortable.

This exactly.  The one thing I don't like about my 4runner is the gas mileage.  I think I get an average of 13MPG, but I do have a 4X4 with the V8 engine so I think that may have something to do with the crappy gas mileage.

  • I have a 2005 Buick Lacrosse (4 door full-size car). I love it because- it's big enough that DH doesn't whine too much about it (he's 6'3 and dislikes all cars - wants me to get an SUV like his). I like the outer design it's curvy and elegant looking. I like the features and little details inside- the fake wood, the different buttons and options (switch from km to miles at a touch- great for border cities), oil life monitor (don't overpay for oil changes), sunroof (I know this is an 'option' but that it was affordable was nice) and I like that I only paid $14,000 in 2010 for it with 75,000km on it (I live in a small Canadian city so it's probably much cheaper in the states,

I love that it's a V6 but not a gas-guzzler and gets much better highway mileage than DH's explorer so it's great for trips. We only plan on having 2 kids, but it also has 3 car-seat anchors in the back so it technically could fit 3 car seats (asuming they were small enough versions). I also like that the child lock only locks the back seat window/doors etc- so adults don't have to deal with it.

  • We currently drive a 2007 Jeep Liberty which will work out great for after LO comes. It has 4 wheel drive, 4 doors, a roomy backseat, and a great cargo area in the back. We plan to upgrade to a Jeep Commander in the next year or so (for sure before LO #2) just so that we'll have the 3rd row of seating and a bigger interior. Besides or LO we have a Great Dane that goes with us everywhere so we definitly need a roomy vehicle.

That being said, I will forever drive a Jeep! I just love them. They get decent gas mileage and have a nice, smooth ride.

  • I always said I would never drive a mini-van! But my husband loves them...so until we have more kids and need more room...we have the Infiniti FX35! I loved the look of this car and have always liked "sports" cars...so this was an SUV version of a sports car. My favorite thing about this car is the backup camera..I don't know how I ever lived without one before! Especially working in the city and having to parallel park! The downer is the gas mileage...I'm not sure what it is but I have to fill up 2x a week which is really annoying!

  • We just bought our family car last weekend!  After researching size, gas mileage, etc. We went with the Nissan Rogue, mini SUV type but with good gas mileage and enough space for our future LO.  We got a great deal on it and when I went to insure it, my agent said it had so many safety features that we were able to get a great rate on it too.

  • I drive a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I really want a new car, but it we paid it off as soon as I stopped working in 2007, so I continue to wait.
My DH has a 2010 Honda Pilot that is his work vehicle that we use on the weekends and go to anywhere together. His company wants him to have a good vehicle that our family can use and that he likes. We definitely like it and it is nice to have more room than we have in my Jeep.
