cleaning house for company? sorta vent)

So I have some of my family coming into town tonight after work. So last night I busted hard to get the house really sqeaky clean for their arrival. I asked DH to get the yard looking up to parr, and to help me a little with the inside stuff. This morning he decides to go on this rant about how its dumb for me and for anyone to kiss a$$, and that cleaning my house really good, i was included in that. He said if people dont like the way our house looks then they can just not stay here! Umm i think he may have had a mood swing for future daddys. I just kind of looked at him and said well... its not people...its my family, and I care what my house looks like when they come. Sorry if you think its me kissing butt, but its not, i just worked hard to get this house and want to be proud of it when they come. He shut up after that, but its still bothering me lol thanks for letting me vent yall

I remember when we first got our house DH said we needed to keep it decently clean because his family likes to stop by to drop things off, etc.  Well, what he really meant was YOU (aka I) need to make sure to keep the house clean.  He wants nothing to do with cleaning and then one little thing will set him off and he's acting like I'm a horrible "housewife" for not keeping the house perfectly clean and us having to bust a$$ to clean before his parents come over, etc.  

But, then if my parents are going to stop by he's more than happy to sit there while I bust a$$ to clean.  And he's like "it's not a big deal if things are out of place".

Anyway - I know how you feel - vent away!

i also won't blame you a bit for venting!  every time we're expecting company, i ask dh to help me.  he agrees on the tasks that he will do.  but invariably something comes up, he puts his tasks off until the last minute, or he starts "not feeling well" and just isn't able to help out.  it frustrates me to no end.
