Is 15w too soon for an elective u/s?

I have an appt on Monday for an elective u/s? I will be 15w 1d but according to how I measured @ last u/s (this past Wednesday) I will be 15w 4d. Is this too soon?

BTW- this place does their gender scans starting at 15w.

  • Not sure, but I looked online at the baby2see website and they still look a lot alike at 14 weeks, but I don't know the difference a week makes! I'm having an ultrasound Tuesday and I will be 14 weeks 6 days and I don't even want them to guess yet!

  • We signed up for an elective gender scan at 16wks. This place also offered them starting at 15wks, but i thought it was too early. I ended up having an OB appt at 15wks to check on another issue, and clear as day the baby is a boy. So.... now im not so sure that 15wks is too early after all haha ;)

  • It seems like most of the posts I've seen on here where people have their's done at around 15 weeks end up questioning the ultrasound tech's guess.....IMO I'd wait another week or two if possible.  I'm going in at 18 weeks, which may seem silly b/c two weeks after I could get it done at the doc. but my situation is different than most--I'm in my home state with family while my husband is deployed and my best friend is paying for my elective scan so that we can Skype with my husband and he can find out as soon as we do what we are having!  We are also finding out on our 4th wedding anniv! :))  Good luck though!
  • I had one done at exactly 15w and we got girl and there was no doubt about it. Just depends on what the baby is up to.

  • With both of my pregnancy's I have gone in for elective US at 13 weeks, ( I lied and told them I was 15 ) both times clear as day, ALL BOY !!

15 weeks is NOT to early !!! It just depends if LO wants to show you

  • The place I'm going to will do sex determination starting at 14w, and I am going next weekend at 15w2d. My SIL went to the same place around 16w and they had no problem telling.

  • I went yesterday (actually 15 and two days) and Tech couldn't tell me for sure. It was an elective and she tried for 30 minutes. She thought maybe boy bc there was something there, but it wasn't obvious and sometimes we both thought it could be a hamburger at one point. Maybe their equipment was lousy (it was 3d, 4d though) or the tech wasn't very experienced. I posted a few potty shots a few down. That's what the whole US was like. BUT, I have seen some ladies on here and those pics are OBVIOUS so yes, I still think it's possible. Depends on baby, tech and equipment :) GL! Let us know!
