Well - not "fine" but nothing potentially fatal.
His WBC was fine and that's what I was stressing over.
She agrees that something's still not right and we're repeating the whole CBC with some more focused tests tomorrow AM.
She said that he may not metabolize B12 and/or folate properly and if that's the case he'll probably need shots for the rest of his life.
I'm TOTALLY good with that.
When I asked if this presentation could be the beginning of something worse she said not really.
She also said she'd never seen a blood panel like this out of a 4 yr old.
Not comforting.
So - if it's a metabolism thing I think I'm gonna ditch her and find someone who specializes in this stuff.
Who exactly would that be? I've got no clue.
And the deal with no freaking communication? She works part time AND at 2 different offices. I expressed my extreme displeasure at how this was handled and she assured me it wouldn't be an issue with this next draw BUT...
She said it took 3 days to get the labs back. Could be true but I'm finding that suspect.
She also said that she didn't have the chest x-ray yet. I'm calling serious BS on that one. It's digital. I saw it before we left the hospital.
I don't think her work schedule is designed well for regular patients but as a Mom who works part time I'm trying not to get my panties in too much more of a wad.
Thanks for your hand holding and well wishes.
I'll update if and when we have an actual diagnosis and treatment plan but the bottom line is that they don't think it's anything serious.
Thank...... GOD!!!!!
Re: He's fine...

phew, glad you heard something
good news, and I hope they get to the bottom if it!
I am so glad it is nothing serious! Whether she works at two offices or not it is still no excuse that she didn't get back to you, even if it was just to say she didn't have all of the results yet.
It will be interesting to see if some of that panel was just a fluke. I have had weird things happen before..last year I was called because my lab work came back that I literally had no platelets at all and when they retested all was fine.
I am also calling bs on the chest x-ray. Jax has had three now and the pedi always had the results within an hour or two.
Daycare is SO exhausting!

Releasing a sigh of relief....
I am glad it does not appear to super serious, but SO sorry you guys had to go through all of this stress. I can't imagine.
Thank goodness!! Sounds like you still have a ways to go to get some answers, but so glad that it doesn't seem serious! I'm with you, I'd cut my losses with that doc and go find a new one ASAP. the pediatric endocrinologist suggestion sounds plausible!
I don't metabolize B12 or Folate properly, never have never will. I see a hematologist once a year for blood work and a checkup and go once monthly for B12 shots. Totally doable it does suck in some ways though when I get sick I gat SICK and it takes twice as long to kick an illness as it would for anyone else. I also tire easily which is frustrating.
Anyways I just wanted to give you my experience it sounds like you are on the right track, IDK if the doctor you are seeing is a Hematologist but I highly recommend you get in with a good Hematologist. Good Luck!
Hi Howley! What a relief that it is nothing serious! I hope further investigation reveals something totally easy to remedy.
Take care. Whew!
Whew! It is so, incredibly nerve-wracking waiting on test results for our kids! Especially if they're exhibiting symptoms or have had previous test results that can be indicative of serious illness! So glad he's okay...hope you get to the bottom of it soon!
