I just looked up the progression of baby teeth and adult teeth...never really knew (nor thought about) that we get fewer baby teeth than adult teeth, though I did know that the wisdom are adult-only. That explains why when I count my teeth I have 12 more than Cal is expected to have (I knew his baby teeth would stop @ 2-year molars, for a total of 20). I think I always assumed we had as many baby teeth as adult teeth (aside from wisdom teeth), and once they fell out they were simply replaced - not that we eventually got even more!
Silly me. Am I numb? Is this widely known or did some of you not realize until you looked it up/talked to your pedi/counted your kid's teeth?
Re: Never knew this about teeth!
I had no idea. I assumed, like you did, that we had the same number of baby teeth as adult teeth; that the baby ones fell out and were replaced by adult teeth. I just thought baby teeth were smaller and as we grew we needed bigger adult teeth.
Funny, I don't remember having any teething pain as a child. Does that mean the new teeth that aren't replacing baby teeth don't cut through the same way baby teeth do?
This for me, too.
This is exactly what I thought.
I don't either...except for wisdom teeth. Which makes sense (that I would remember), since I got them when I was 19.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
This. I remember getting my 12-year molars. I don't remember it being painful, but I remember really being aware that they were coming.
TTC since 11/05...ectopic pg 4/08...early m/c 6/09...BFP 10/5/09!

Nora B...June 15, 2010...8lbs, 8oz...Med-free birth!
TTC #2 since 7/11...cycle #3 of Clomid + IUI = BFP

Malcolm...September 21, 2012...8lbs, 6oz...Another med-free birth!
This I did know which makes sense that they are added. I don't remember them being painful although my wisdom teeth were. I was 20 when they started to come in and I was almost in tears.
What they said. I remember my gums being very sore.
