Babies: 3 - 6 Months

The Ugly Truth

I work in an office with some pretty close coworkers.  One of my coworker/friends is pregnant now and usually talk gets to babys for at least a moment or two, almost always when someone else asks either of us.

I'm not entirely sure how it came about, but one of our older coworkers (whom I adore) who has no kids asked me something about leaving the house on my own after Em was born and I "confessed" that I had a bit of PPD.  I feel really comfortable with the few people that were there and I'm not ashamed of it even though it was slightly odd at first to be telling them this trying to make light of it proving I'm not actually crazy.

Then I realized that one of my coworkers was sitting there reading a magazine and would NEVER look up at me.  It's like she was afraid of what I was saying.  I don't know if it somehow impacts her (she doesn't have kids but maybe a friend?) but knowing her I get hte impression she was just really really uncomfortable.

To each there own, and I'm not really offended by it it just struck me as odd.

  • Where do you people work where you can read magazines and bump?
  • Yea that certainly could be it but I know her pretty well and there were only 5 of us so it was just odd.  She doesn't ever not contribute to the conversation.  Who knows, maybe I am just more sensitive that I first thought about it.  More than anything I didn't want it to be uncomfortable.
