Cats and Eczema

I've heard from some of you before that your babies have eczema. Its such a struggle to keep these flare-ups from happening, and once they do, its an even bigger struggle getting them to go away. I was reading a pamplet from the derm that I took LO to a few weeks ago and it said cats can trigger a reaction. We don't have pets, but MIL has a cat. She lives 4 hours away so when we visit we usually stay the night in DHs old bedroom. The cat has full run of the house and is allowed in any room and on beds. We haven't been there in a month and a half, and I didn't know about the cat thing then, so I can't remember if it caused a flare-up last time, or if he was already having one. We are supposed to visit again on the 12th of March and I'm worried about a flare up.

BTW, LO has another derm appt on the 7th so I'm going to mention it then.

Re: Cats and Eczema

  • My best friends 2 DS's have horrible eczema. Her oldest got better when they removed the cats from their home (we kept them as a trial to see if it got better). But he still has issues occasionally. Her youngest has the worst eczema I've ever seen and not much seems to help it. She uses all natural cleaning and detergent items, gives them organic food, goes to the dermatologist...nothing seems to help the poor little guy.
