Anyone NOT picked a name yet?

We have looked through 2 books, dozens of online websites and even had suggestions from friends and cannot agree.  Originally we were going to go wtih a Swedish name (DH is from there) but I don't like a lot of Swedish boys' names (Linus, Isak).  DH is shooting down all my traditional names.  The only name we can agree on is Damien, but it reminds everyone from the devil child in the Omen.  We are stuck and hoping that when he comes, he looks like a certain name so we aren't fumbling through baby name books in the hospital just to fill out a birth certificate.

Anyone else?

Re: Anyone NOT picked a name yet?

  • We haven't decided yet. We have two names we both agree on so far, Kirsten and Audrina, but are still open to other options.  If we don't find any others that we like, she'll most likely be one of those two names and we'll probably wait until she's born to decide.

  • Before Dh and i found out what we were having we had both our boy and girl names picked out.. Girl is Madison.. our boy names we had two that we liked Evan and Mason.

  • I have a ton of favorites, but DH has not really chimed in yet - so we are sort of waiting until a little closer.  We will also decide on two names and when we look at her, probably make the final decision.

  • We haven't and probably won't make an official decision until he is born.  So far we have a very small list of names that haven't been rejected by one of us and one name that we both like.  For now.

  • We have our boy name picked, but no such luck on a girl name (we're team green).  We have a long list, but nothing we've totally agreed on yet.  I have a feeling we'll be waiting to see our LO before deciding for sure on a girl name, unless of course it's a boy.  I also liked Damien, but I know what you mean about the devil child thing.
  • We haven't decided yet, well I should say I haven't decided yet. My DH has a few that he says he is fine with, but they haven't grown on me yet. Everytime I hear him say them I don't like them any more.

He likes Kaylin Nicole or Brooke Elizabeth, we both kind of like Anna Marie. I don't know and it's frustrating me, mainly because he is kind of pushing me. He feels he can't talk to her until she has a name (he has talked to her, but he feels really wierd not knowing what to call her).

I told him it might come down to seeing her after she is born and then decide what "she looks like". But he keeps telling me, she's not a dog and all babies look alike. I think he will see things differently when she does get here.

  • We haven't picked one either. We have a short list and will probably pick one when she is born, unless something jumps out in the next couple of months.

  • We have nothing, not even a short list. We like a lot of the same ones, but we keep ruling them out for some reason or another. DH thought I was being funny by saying we couldn't do Owen because it's my friend's nephew's name, but then he ruled out Oliver last night because his coworker's daughter just named her son that. I also like Seth but we have a friend named Seth, and we're not that close to him, I think it would be odd to have him be our child's namesake.

  • We're going to name her after she's born -- we did that with our first. He was born at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday and we didn't agree on a name until 4 p.m. Wednesday. (The nurses thought we were nuts.)

We just have a really hard time finding names we both like. Basically, we'll wind up with a list of four or five times neither of us hates and see which one fits her best in person.

  • We probably arent picking a name until she is born but at this point the short list is Gabriella, Lillian and Ellinor. If we had a boy he would have been Josiah Nathaniel.

  • We have a short list of favorites and will pick the final name after he's born. I don't like officially naming a baby before they are born... what if it comes out looking like something different? That's how my mom named my sister and I and it seemed like a good plan to follow.

  • Well, we have picked a first name for her already, but I am still deciding if we are giving her a middle name (DH seems to just have settled with that one), and if we are, which one. I keep trying to look for middle names that will go with it, but nothing I like. So, technically, I don't know if we have her whole name already. If I can't find a middle name by the time she is born, she'll just have a first name.

    GL on your search :)

  • We haven't picked out a name (well, a name for each gender) yet either.  We've been too busy getting the nursery ready to talk about names.  :)  Soon...
  • We surprisingly have a boys first name, Nolan, and a girls MN, Avril, but that's it! With DS we decided on a boys and girls name the night before I went into labor (3 days past the due date!) we didn't have a spelling if either name or MNs though! Literally after DS was born and we knew it was a boy we knew it was Aidan we just didn't know how we'd spell it so in the hospital run in the white board we wrote the name in print and cursive in a bunch of different spellings! Then the day we were discharged they came with the birth certificate paperwork and we had no choice but to pick a spelling and a MN so Aidan Paul it is! Haha! Paul after DHs uncle and my grandfathers MN!

  • We have a boys name and a list of 6 girls names that we are still working on paring down.

  • We've narrowed it down to 2 first names, and at this point we will probably wait until she is born to choose.  Although I think we are both leaning towards the same one.  We haven't even thought about middle names yet.  I don't really want to have it "done" because I like thinking about it and all the possibilities.
  • We haven't and we honestly haven't even talked about it much. We decided our first two daughters' names in the hospital while I was being induced and I'm guessing we'll do the same thing this time!

  • Same boat here. Even though I have a name in my siggy, its not set in stone. I thought it was and then DH started to have second thoughts. ugh. I have looked online, and in multiple books but can't seem to find anything else we 'love'. I feel like it needs to be perfect, I mean it is the name she will have for the rest of her life! I don't want to pick something and then regret it. It was so much easier with DD#1, we had two names and then decided once we saw her. This time we can't even pick ONE we like. I worry she will be nameless. My DH is worse than I am about the names, which makes it extremely difficult. I have a list of about 10-15 names I like and he hates them all. While I am willing to compromise, he is stubborn. And then he doesn't want to make suggestions either! I am like, if you dont like anything I pick then find something yourself!! I wish he didn't care so much. lol

  • DH and I have hardly even discussed it.  I pretty much have a non-negotiable girl's first name picked out (Maya) but am open to letting DH pick a middle name.  Boy's names are tough.  Every now and then, out of the blue, DH will throw a boy's name at me- and they all suck!  His last suggestion was Tommy- not a nickname but Tommy as full name (not short for anything).  I feel bad but since he catches me off guard I usually laugh at his choices (he sprung Tommy on me in the middle of Target last week).

  • ugh...we are having a hard time with names, but i think i remember having a hard time last time as well.  we didn't name DS until the 2nd day in the hospital.

  • I'm hoping to have a somewhat short list of names we both agree on and decide when he's born. Dh hasn't been contributing to suggestions though and seems set on naming after him, making him the third. Neither of us like the nickname Trey though. Wish something would just click.

  • There's still plenty of time :) we know there's no rush to chose a name that we don't both just love!

We have used Nymbler and have a great list of about 20 boy names we like a lot but have yet to sit down and actually choose something.

  • We haven't picked one yet either.  We had a girl name pretty much set but we are still throwing around boy names.  There are quite a few we like, but not sure if we've found "the one"....maybe we just have to wait until we meet him to decide!
  • We haven't picked a name. We had waited until the anatomy scan to even begin to discuss names. Now that we know we're having a girl, we still haven't had the discussion.

So we decided that we're each going to make a Top 10 list and we're going to pick a name and a back-up from there.

  • we're team green and have zero names picked out...

I do have a preference for a girl's middle name if DH won't go for it being the first name...but that's about it.

  • We can't agree on anything.  We have a couple that we both say we don't hate but neither of us is in love with a name.  I want her middle name to be a family name so I think I have that picked out.  We didn't decide on DS's name until he was born but I'm hoping we can choose DD's name earlier.  We've been through 3 books and several websites and still don't have anything.  I think it makes it a little harder that we're both teachers (this is his 10th year and my 5th).  That usually narrows down the choices for us some.  ;o)

    Good luck!

  • We settled on a girl's name nearly immediately.  Boy's name?  Not so much.  He really dislikes my ideas....I just do not like his.  So I guess we're kinda at a stalemate right now.

  • We have done the same. And have 1 on the list! LOL!

Naming a second boy is hard as we used the name we loved.

We like to have 2 names and choose when we see baby, so we have to defiantly find one more!

  • We had finally decided on a boy name..... when we found out it's a girl!

Middle name is picked b/c of family tradition-- oldest girl's middle name is always Marie or Maria (mine is too).

First name we have a list of six:

    Sadie

    Robyn

    Cameron/Cameryn

    Julia

    Auden

    Riley

My favorite is Julia (I've had the Beatles song stuck in my head the whole pregnancy) but DH doesn't like it with Marie or Maria.

DH's favorite is Cameron/Cameryn- his mother's maiden name, but call me crazy, I am not anxious to name the baby after someone who gave me a speech about how much she hates little girls when we were first dating. She hasn't exactly shown much interest in the pregnancy so far either.

The others we both like, but of course in opposite order of preference from each other :)
