IL's in town next month

Mil, SIL, her baby and dh's brother will be staying with us when they come for thomas' b-day, which is fine but we finally have T STTN but I'm worried the visitors and added noise will screw up his sleep. Any suggestion to prevent this?

  • do you have a fan in his room?  We have fans running on low when they sleep - so it drowns out other house sounds.  I was surprised this past Christmas, we had family crashing at our house - three of their cousins.. one of them was able to crawl into the bed in Keegan's room without waking him up in the middle of the night & her mom was able to go get her too with out him making a peep.

  • Agree with PP: either the fan or white noise machine.

  • I had my sister stay with me for a week and I found it helpful if you start to "mellow it down" about an hour before bedtime. Maybe some quiet playtime in his room or in your bedroom, a nice relaxing bath, storytime, cuddles, whatever works for you. I think if babies get too wound up with the excitement of company that they have a tough time falling and staying asleep.

    Hope that helps!

  • White noise and I laid a body pillow in front of the baby's door to help block sound. I remove the pillow before we go to bed though for airflow.

  • Yeah my suggestion is having them stay in a hotel!  Big Smile  But I'm not big on sharing our tiny house with relatives.  Anyway, ditto pp's suggestions for a white noise machine, Simon has one playing 24/7 in his room, it's set to rainfall.

That is what we set M's to also. It's really pretty soothing.
