The XXP is because I have posted on multiple boards. Double XP! When you were looking at DE profiles..how did you choose? what ruled donors out?Right now we have two profiles to look at..no psych and no pics..just the basic information ht, wt, medical background, reason for donating ...Right now we are stuck on ht and wt ratio's as the "rule out"...neither have major medical history..some grandparents with diabetes, lung cancer (smoker).I just wanted some ideas of what others looked at...It is hard Thank you

Re: XXP DE ladies come on in
I know for me I wanted someone who looked like me, but that came back to bite me in the end. The donor we picked initially, looked like my twin. She was not proven, we had no other info on her other then ht, wt, etc. Well, she went in for day 3 blood work and it was horrible. The RE would not work with her.
So, we went back to the agency and found another donor who has donated before (5 times) had great success with each. She looks a little (tiny bit) like me. Only same hair and eye color.
In the end, we went with someone who looks little like me but is proven. I feel much more comfortable knowing that. We are going to cycle with her in April and I am really looking forward to getting things going!!!!
Good luck to you, I know how hard it is. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
At out clinic, we were given 8 categories to think about and then list those characteristics that were "must haves" and those that were "nice to have". We didn't look at a bunch of profiles. We were matched by our clinic and then had the opportunity to say yea or nea.
Anyway, they only "must have" that we listed was caucasion and the only "nice to have" for us was that I preferred someone of eastern european descent, since that's what I am. We didn't want to rule out any donor by specifying anything else and I didn't really care what she looked like. The only thing that I wanted to look more closely at was medical history and our donor really had no issues at all in her family. However, I knew that, at 23, she was still young, with young parents and grandparents and just may have not experienced illnesses yet, so, I didn't put that much stock into the clean record.
Then, we were matched. I honestly thought that I would pore over every word of her profile. In reality, we received the profile in the mail, I read it out loud to my husband, put it down and said, "yep, she's our donor". I honestly didn't agonize or overthink it at all! I was almost unemotional about it. I just knew.
Thanks ladies.
I think I am like you LBR. We made our decision based on these two profiles (tentative as we are going to get the psych eval and pic after we let them know our thoughts) Now we are both second guessing!
Maybe we should just let it rest and relax...I mean look at that beautiful baby!
