My husband left for a 4 month deployment in Jan. and has missed all the exciting baby stuff :0( My first apt. we tried to get the heart beat on video to upload and show him, but failed, and we had to wait another 4 1/2 weeks for my next apt. to try again! Well this time we got it and we were able to upload it onto facebook so my husband could watch and listen!
Here is what he wrote:
WOW that video really just hit home for me! I will do everything I can to be the best father for our baby!! I really don't care what the sex of the baby is. It's gonna be my world and i can't wait to share the experience of parenthood with you baby. But I think i have to vomit now... Love you and see you soon!
He also told me later on Skype that he cried a little
aww
I love my goofy husband!
) He is going to be such a great daddy!
Re: Hubby Finally got to hear heart beat via FB
Well, I'd totally like to think that, but I'm sooo not in this alone
I ended up coming home to stay with my parents for the time he is gone so that I wouldn't have to do all of it on my own and so that they could share in the experience! I am super lucky and have such a wonderful family and such wonderful friends that so far, despite hubby not being here, things have really been wonderful! Thank you though!
AH! I wish I would have thought about that at my first u/s apt.....but didn't! Luckily, my best friend has purchased a 4d ultrasound/gender scan for me to happen on my our 4th wedding anniversary, which luckily falls on my hubby's one day off a week so that we can Skype with him when we find out the sex, which is the next best thing to having him here for it! I was planning on just waiting until he got home to find out, but he kept begging to know asap and then my friend planned it all--and it has just worked out perfectly so far! I just hope that the connection is strong enough so that it doesn't cut out at the moment we find out! lol
Thank you and your husband for his being in the military! Thank you for the heads up too! Next u/s (after gender one) I'll def. ask for that!
Aw, this will be so fantastic! I've gotta say, DH and I were just talking the other night about how great Skype is and we have no idea how we'd survive this military lifestyle without it. DH's grandfather was a career Airman and did two or three tours in Vietnam. I have no clue how DH's grandmother survived with just a few letters showing up intermittently here and there across the months. I'm just in awe of her and all the mil-spouses who came before us when email and skype didn't exist.
We say that all the time too! I don't know how the wives did it "back in the day" and I am sooo thankful to have Skype and other technology to make being apart so much easier to cope with!
