Is what BIL (DH brother) asked DH yesterday. DH called him to say hello and see what was going on- shoot the breeze. They were talking and BIL just asked if we chose to have a girl. DH was like "?????? Um no"
Do people really ask this?

They ask it and if you are like my MIL you would do it! She told DH she would advocate is having selected the gender...umm, lady I had maybe 4 decent eggs left, I do not think I had that option, and even if I did I would have never...some people!
I thought I had done a decent job educating my sister about IF. Until some friends of ours - who have a son thanks to IVF (the guy had testicular cancer but they were able to save and freeze some sperm before radiation) - found out that they were again pregnant thanks to IVF and were having a girl. . .
Upon learning this news, my sister said something along the lines of, "was that on purpose?" Huh? "I mean, did they pick to have a girl since they already have a boy?" Blank stare. "What, people can do that, right?!!"
People ask it b/c sadly, there are people out there who do it.

I remember DH's brother (bachelor at the time, about 38) coming over a few days after we had James. James started crying and didn't want a bottle. DH's brother got this really confused and annoyed look on his face and said "Why's he crying like that?" We were like, "Um, he's a *baby*. Babies cry." Luckily he doesn't plan to have children.

Nope no kids. Thank goodness. He and his wife are sooooo odd that any children they have would need immediate therapy. They chose not to have kids- wise choice. They have no idea we did IUI both times to get pg. He thought that we just did it the old fashioned way and chose to have a girl. Which I know there are things people do to up their chances of having one gender over another.
I should ask him if he chose to be a wack-job. Sometimes I wonder how DH and BIL are related, let alone twins (thankfully I got the sane one).
