Scan went well. Nuchal measurement was good and nasal bone present. 1 in 2000 risk for Downs before b/w is figured in. Measuring on track and HR of 145.
We met with a very thorough peri who discussed Eliza's tethered cord in detail. He said it is too early to see anything on u/s, but he wants a high level u/s at 18w to examine the brain and spine. He said if there is an open neural tube defect (E's is closed) it would be evident then. A closed defect could be harder to spot and would likely not be found until birth. An open defect is more risky and has many more implications and consequences, including surgery upon delivery. He explained it is just a genetic roll of the dice if this baby has it or not, but is at increased risk. Since we know what to look for this time, I feel a lot better about things. He said there really isn't any impact on my pregnancy at this time and if the 18w u/s shows anything, we will take it from there. One step at a time!
Eliza's next appt is March 7th for an orthopedic consult and we scheduled a 2nd opinion appt at a spinia bifida clinic and nationally ranked peds neurosurgery hospital about 2 hrs from us . That is March 15th. 18w u/s is April 4th.
Thank you all so much for the thoughts, prayers, support and messages over the past week. You are the best!
Re: NT Scan update & update
I'm glad the NT scan went well. My SIL is also pregnant right now and due the same time as you...she had her scan today as well.
Your ticker helps me remember how far along she is.
I'm also glad that you have an appointment scheduled for E. I hope they have good news.
Thinking about you!
