Outdoor play structures for toddlers?

Does anyone have a climbing/slide/playhouse type thing in their yard for their toddlers? I'd like to get one for Charlie and Lily as soon as the weather warms up so I'm looking for recommendations. We don't have a ton of space, so I need something kind of compact. Thanks :)

Re: Outdoor play structures for toddlers?

  • we do. We have a slide/swing (it's the castle looking thing, I think by Step 2), A playhouse, and a sandbox/water table.

Look on craigslist. I got 2 of the 3 on there for a steal, the playhouse was $150 at TRU and I got it (assembled!!) for $35 on craigslist.

  • We have this, it's an older version, got it on CL for $300 last October.  It's the perfect size for Mark to play on by himself but he'll still be happy playing on it for a little while before he out grows it.  It still looks new even though I believe it's several years old and they hold their value well so you could likely get mot of your money back out of it one day.

  • We have a Step 2 toddler swing set that Hayden lvoes. It has a little swing and a toddler slide on it. We also have a dora pirate ship (a hand-me-down from my neices) and he has a sand/water table. He loves them all. When we had our stretch of warm weather last week we went out and played and he loved it still.

  • Another vote for both Craigslist AND Step 2.

No way I'd ever pay retail for one of those things.  Mine were in a regular play scape by age 2 - 2.5.  If you're going to sink some cash into something wait until you're buying the set they'll be using for the next 8 years or so.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • When DD was that age we purchased a little tikes slide, a little tikes playhouse and a sandbox from craigslist.  With those and the wading pool she was happy.  The next summer (last summer) we got a new compact wooden swingset for a great deal online.  So I wouldn't sink too much money into this years entertainment.  They will want something bigger before you know it.  ;)
