No doubt about it. I grew up in a rural area and most of our doctors were a 30-40 minute drive away anyway. Fortunately, I live in "civilization" now and DS's ped is 10 minutes away, but if I needed to make a longer trip to get to a better doctor, I'd surely do it.
Without a doubt. This person is making important decisions and is helping you make important decisions about your child, you must go with someone you absolutely like and trust,

Definitely. My OB/GYN and Hunter's pediatrician about both 45 minutes away. The ones around here are probably fine, but I feel much safer with them being affiliated with a much bigger, nicer, up-to-date hospital.
definitely. i was shocked to find a like-minded practice here that met both my and h's criteria [our main pedi is an MD but teaches a DO program, ivy league education, alternative medicine, OMT, respects my decisions on vaccines, etc.] and fully expected to have to venture out further.

Yes, and we do. We moved 45min North and I tried a few pedis up here since it would be closer, but hated it. So I went back to my pedi, its a drive, but I love her practice. And the way she treats me and the kids, so the drive is well worth the trust I have with her.
Definitely! There are plenty of good pediatricians in the town where I currently live but I still drive 40 minutes to the pediatrician that I had for my DS where I used to live. There's nothing like having a pediatrician that you know and trust!

Re: Would you go to a pediatrician
Yes. But I also live in an area that isn't very "townie" like that. Most of my appointments for services are in towns different from where I live.
I'd go to the best one that is within reasonable travel distance.
