Is it the nipple or the bottle?

What causes more gas issues? I have Medela nipples (from when I was BF and pumping) but when I switched to FF, I just put those nipples on some really cheap bottles (those .96 cent ones from Walmart), thinking that I would have to get "nicer" bottles eventually... (You know, after the BF meltdown at 2am... :) Well sure enough, they've been working out just fine, no issues...

But now she needs to go up to a bigger size in bottles (and I think a faster nipple flow). Do you think since the bottles work fine, that I can just use the nipples they come with? Or should I buy more Medela nipples, because the bottle doesn't really matter, the nipple is more important? (I suppose I could just try both, and see what happens, but I would rather save some money without experimenting, and I thought maybe there was some rule of thumb that the bottle or nipple was the more important element?!) TIA!
