Kids' Books

So, I know my LO probably isn't getting the full effect yet, but Mo Willems' are the best kids' books I've ever read. We Are in a Book! made me laugh out loud. So fun! What are your favorite kids' books?

Re: Kids' Books

  • so cliche but i love "the cat in the hat". also, "oh the places you will go"... really all the dr seuss books are great. and "love you forever" (though it is creepy that the mom goes to the grown mans house with a ladder and breaks in to hold him lol). my sister got a personalized book about fairies that has my daughters name in it - its really really cute.

  • Contrary to the popular opinion around here, I love the Goodnight Moon books. I also love Dr. Seuss and the Nutshell Library books.
    "To me, you are perfect."

  • I haven't read that one. I'll have to look it up!

My favorite is Love You Forever and The Runaway Bunny. I also like to read Shel Silverstein poems especially Where the Sidewalk Ends.

  • I try reading kids books to her and it is always an epic fail as I seem to pick the worst.times.ever. She just loves the sound of our voices, so I've given up on reading and we just talk to her alot and read random things out loud throughout our day.

  • My favorite book has always been The Velveteen Rabbit.  I read it to E for the first time last night; I can't believe she sat through the whole thing!

  • Because of Olivia (and being a former teacher), we read all day long.  Abigail sits beautifully for whatever we are reading.  Right now, our favorites are the Pinkalicious series.  My favorites to read to Abigail alone are Goodnight Moon and Guess How Much I Love You.
  • Anything by Sandra Boynton, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Green Eggs & Ham, Guess How Much I Love You, and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus (another Mo Willems book!)

  • We got a huge set of Dr. Seuss books as a gift, so we read those a lot. We also got a Curious George set that we've been reading. I love Goodnight Moon, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?, Ten in the Bed, Five Silly Monkeys. All sorts of cute little stories.

& of course I sometimes read him whatever I'm reading... a little James Patterson here, a little Jodi Picoult there. ;-)

  • I read books that are totally not age appropriate for babies, but I figured that I might as well read something that I can enjoy too. I'm doing an art lesson based on "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost. I read it to LO last night and he loved it, I think he enjoyed looking at the illustrations as much as I did. We also got an entire Beatrix Potter box set, so I've been reading these to him as well. Sometimes we get through the entire Potter book in one sitting!
