Suggestions for 30th birthday party

My husband planned an amazing birthday weekend for me this past weekend.  I didn't think he would plan so much, and we don't really do anything to celebrate birthdays, so I hadn't put much thought into his 30th (which is in a few weeks).  Now I really want to plan something for him as a surprise.  Any good ideas???  Are there any good party rooms, restaurants, etc to rent out?  Thanks!!!

  • RP McMurphys in Hyde Park is fun! You can rent out the upstairs, I went once for a bday party. I think it's a $500 minimum, so you could either pay that in advance or just invite everyone there and I'm sure collectively there will be a $500 tab. If you paid in advance they would just keep bringing drinks, if you want your guests to pay they will just keep adding up the tabs and if it's less than $500 total, you would pay the difference. Make sense? Anyway, just an idea!

  • I recently went to a friends 40th surprise party at The Korea House at Harper's Point. They had a sushi bar and appetizers set up and then chose a few entrees to be served family style and cash bar (and they served the cake that was brought in). They had a big screen tv in the bar area where we were seated and my friend's husband hooked his computer up to it and played a fun photo slideshow. It was a great evening! Korean food is not my favorite but it went over very well with the large crowd there.

  • Martino's on Vine (Clifton) has an upstairs as well that people rent out all the time for parties.  I bartended there for a few years and am still close with the owners.  It is a fun place if he doesn't mind a Steelers bar.  (waiting for the flames, sorry) A super cool Italian family runs it and they can accommodate about anything.  I can get more info if you are interested.  Good luck!  My DH had a surprise party for my 30th and it was the best day ever!

  • I think you should do something fun just the two of you in the day, ex: the flying trapeze school. (Todd and I did it for our anniversary) and then have a surprise party with everyone. There are tons of fun places for that...does he have a fav rest. ?
