Babies: 3 - 6 Months

should I be worried? Question about baby's head...

At our 2 month appointment I had brought up my concern that DS preferred being turned to the right, and showed the doctor how his ear lobe was pinched because of it. We have been working hard on redirecting DS's interest so he is moving his head more, and spending more time on his tummy.

My worrying is probably over reacting, but yesterday I noticed his head is now pointy on the right (top), his right ear is much flatter and longer than the left and the cartilage is much more flexible, his cheek is flatter, and in general the left side of his face and head is more rounded and the right side is more stretched out looking and flat. I've read that this can be one of two things, but my main concern is that it is getting worse instead of better. Can this wait until our 4 month appointment? Or should I call the pedi tomorrow?

TIA!

  • I would call. I'm a first time mom and if I ever have a concern no matter how silly I think it is, I call. Hope everything is fine though!

  • I would call. We noticed the same thing around 2 months and our pedi ordered physical therapy. PT has made the world of a difference. We go once a week but the most helpful thing is she teaches us stretches and activities to do at home.

  • I would call too, like PP's said. IMO, its better to call than wait especially if you have concerns like you wrote about. GL! :)

  • I would also call.  Abigail has torticollis and we are now seeing a PT.  There is no reason to wait.
