Freaked out cause I woke up from sleeping on my stomach!

Hahah this probably sounds ridiculous but I woke up at 4:30 this morning freaking out wondering how  long I was sleeping on my stomach.  I must have been in the middle of a terrible baby dream...but anyway...someone please reassure me that the baby will be unharmed from one night of sleeping on my stomach!  haha

I did buy a Snoogle pillow and thankfully that has helped me get used to sleeping on my sides but it's still tough when you are usually a stomach sleeper!

Happy Friday!

  • I slept on my stomach a lot with my DD and do now too.  Once I'm bigger I don't because I can't.  But I really don't think it's that big of a deal in the early stages.

  • Its ok to sleep on your stomach!! You just get to a point where you are too BIG to sleep on your stomach...but you will know when that time comes! you won't harm the baby @ all sleeping on your bump =)

  • I still sleep on my stomach. Naturally, as you get bigger you'll stop waking up on your stomach because, well it just won't be possible to do so! Baby is very protected by your muscles and organs and only about 5 inches long right now. Don't worry about it.

  • I just stopped sleeping on my stomach a few nights ago.  I have always needed to be on my stomach to fall asleep.  It isn't terribly uncomfortable now I just feel more comfortable on my sides.

  • I still sleep on my stomach all the time.  Eventually you won't be able to, just enjoy it while you can.
  • You're not supposed to sleep on your stomach?  Who knew.
  • pretty sure your baby is fine. I slept on my stomach most of my last pregnancy, and have a lot of this one too. Don't freak out about it.

  • There is nothing wrong with sleeping on your stomach.  I still sleep on my stomach every night.

  • I'm a stomach sleeper too. I have been trying to sleep on my side, but somethimes I wake up on my stomach. I have started wedging myself onto my side with pillows on each side of me, but even with that, I tend to sleep on my side/stomach.

I'm pretty sure that there is no harm to the baby. The only reason that you are told not to sleep on your stomach is because it is physically impossible once your belly gets bigger.

  • Your fine. I'm still sleeping on my stomach and plan on it for quite awhile. I know all doctors are different, but mine said it's not even close to time to worry about that.

  • i read somewhere that its okay to sleep on your stomach or back sometimes but to try to sleep on your side. it basically said you can't control your body when you're asleep and if you're doign something bad for the baby while you're sleeping, your body should react.

  • My OB said it is perfectly okay to sleep on your stomach until it becomes uncomfortable. She said that around 20 weeks is when I should try to sleep on my back or side, but I'm fine on my stomach until them. I've been sleeping on my stomach every night

  • i think you will be fine. your body will let you know when it is time to move, and soon it wont even be an option. from what i understand, it is more of an issue later in pregnancy, anyway. if youre still tiny enough to be able to do so, you should be fine. i, for one, am a beached whale and couldnt lie on my stomach if i could try.
