We survived and a WWYD?

DD had a fever 102 or higher alll night. She did really well with it and we alternated the medicines. Now she is staying around 100 and will get more tylenol at 9:30 so I am hopeful today will be much better.

We still don't know why she got the fever though, the doctor couldn't find anything when I brought her in yesterday. Would you call/try to bring her back in or just assume it's going away anyway so it must be OK?

Re: We survived and a WWYD?

  • If its going down, and the doc already ruled out the major things, then I don't see a point to going back.

DD has a fever now but its managable so we haven't even called the pedi. If it continues or spikes we will.

  • ditto pp.  It is hard feeling so helpless, but there isn't much more you can do.  It is probably a virus and just needs to run its course.

  • Not if they ruled out everything already.  the best thing to do is keep the baby comfortable.

  • If it's coming down, I wouldn't take her back in. Last time DS had a high fever, the doc couldn't find any reason for it. So we treated the fever until it was gone.

  • DS just had the same thing.  I called the nurse and she said to wait.  If the fever lasted 3 days then take in or if it could not be reduced by meds.  She also said if symptoms changed then take him in.  I ended up taking him in b/c he started to not sleep through the night and refused to eat solids.  Come to find out he had a virus and as the virus was going away he started to get an ear infection.  HTH
