Success after IF

Orlando lovers come on in!! :)

We've decided on Orlando for our family vacation. I'm driving myself NUTS searching online- there <seem to be> to many good deals! We definitely need a suite with a full kitchen and washer & dryer since Jake goes to sleep early- we'll need a living space to hang out in.  We're not looking for a traditional hotel room.

Any recs??? We just want something kid friendly with a nice pool(s).  And not in any park since they are a lot more $$$.  Thanks!!!!!

  • vrbo.com for places?  Not stayed there in a long time, but we did recently hit the Disney place where there's shops and walking, and stuff and that was cute. (day trip pre-cruise with inlaws)

washer and dryer? really? how long you going for, girl? ;-)

Probably a week, maybe 10 days.  And I'd like to pack light for all of us.  Jake goes through 2-3 outfits a day when we're out...seriously worlds messiest eater! Washer and dryer will just make everything easier.  Plus- then we get to come home to clean clothes! :)

  • I rented a house the last time I was there. We stayed at Windsor Hills. But they also had condos available. It was a 5 minute drive from Disney and the complex itself had a lot to do for kids (pool, play area, etc).

  • When are you going?? Are you doing the parks? Disney? Others?

I ask this because there are some really good deals at certain times!

  • I guess I'm a lover since I live here :).

I second vrbo or renting a townhome/condo through someone.  There are tons of nice timeshares and other creative rental properties down here that are owned by Europeans or snowbirds.  I don't know the prices (or your price range), but Floridays Resort is pretty nice.  They have a website and you can check price and availability.

I'd recommend avoiding I-Drive.  While it's close to the properties, it's tourist hell.  The traffic is unbearable.  It's fine if you want to go somewhere out there, I'd just avoid staying there.

  • Yay!  How exciting!  Where we live!  I'd also rent a townhome or condo.  I don't know much about vacationing/staying here though, since I live here.  If my house was big enough, I'd invite you to stay with us!  =)

Let me know when you'll be coming, it'd be great to meet up!

  • My cousin's in laws own a few condos down there, I can ask her for information if you want. We have never stayed one because we have Disney Vacation Club (timeshare). All my cousins and aunt have stayed there and loved though.

Also, check jetblue for flights we got our flights out Newark for under 160 round trip for each of us. I know they fly out of the NY area too. I actually think they might be cheaper out of NY!

  • We live in Fort Lauderdale..so we are driving up to Disney next weekend..and staying for a long weekend (thrusday-sat)..Even though it's Presidents weekend and school vacation in MA, NY ect.We are meeting my girlfriend and her two kids next weekend and the prices weren't terrible for hotels outside the Park..I went to AAA (which also has the best prices on Disney tickets FIY)

We also wanted a suite..that way we can 2 seprate rooms for us and J.  THe best prices were the:

Embassy Suites-140$ a night inclued breakfast and also happy hour drinks YEAHHH...They have a kitchenett as well...It's near Down Town Disney..

And then second choice and the ones we are staying at are the Buena Vista Suites and the Cribe Royal Orlando..They are the owned by the same company Buena Vista is a little older and the Cribe Royal is newer.

Buena Vista was $329 for 3 nights and then the Crib Roayl was 551 but we found a better deal when we called that included breakfast and cocktails $620 (including taxes)...So that's what we are going with..That also includes the AAA/Fla res discount..

I know you said you wanted to stay for a long time (10 days) so I would totally suggest going on either Craigslist or even looking into Disney Vacations (time shares) to see what they have to offer.

  • I love the sheraton vistana resort, it is minutes from Downtown Disney and is basically a 2 bedroom apartment, with full kitchen, several pools, a bunch of spas, 3 or 4 restaurant on site, and laundry on site. There is a grocery store about .5 miles away (right at before Downtown Disney, actually. I have stayed there 15 times (You can say I like disney!)
