Recommend your laptop

My stupid $%@#%^ HP just died AGAIN!  4th time in 6 months.  It can probably be recovered, but who wants to reload everything every 2-3 months?  I am shopping for a new laptop.  Dave be damned.  Mama is done.  Mac is out of the budget...although my photos would love to see one arrive here.  I will never buy another HP, and my experience with Dell is the same...not happening again.  What do you recommend?  Those with Macs-feel free to convice my DH that I *need* a Mac laptop.  Unlikely to happen, but I will show him your posts if I think it might convince him.  LOL

You NEED a Mac! (think the all caps need will convince him?) Seriously though, besides the fact that you already mentioned your pics would love it I'd be willing to bet he would too! We have had HP and Dell as well and will NEVER EVER go back. We have had our laptop now for 3 years and never had a problem with it despite the fact that it has fallen onto our tile floor on more than one occasion If DH was home he would be able to give me better comparisons to help you convince DH to go for a Mac. I wish I still got my Mac discount.

I agree, Mac is the way to go...and I've had Dells, HPs, Gateways, etc. LOVE my Mac! I figure I will end up saving $$ (even though they are much more expensive) because I won't have to buy a new laptop every two years. Also, check out Microcenter. I got my Mac for about $200 less than it was selling for everywhere else.

i have never been able to afford a mac...but i love my dell.  my dad got it for me for christmas last year and i haven't had any problems with it...yet.  it seems fast, has plenty of room and wasn't confusing to start up.  i am sure i would love a mac, as i am obsessed with my iPhone4, but for now, my dell will do.

This. I've never had anything but, and I love them. I'm just not a Mac person. I don't like the compatibility issues.

I always recommend Dell, Toshiba, or Lenovo.  I always say stay away from HP.  And pls don't get me started an Mac's or any apple product for that matter

I hate Dell, HP, Compaq etc. I can't afford a Mac. I'm on my second Toshiba, first one died from operator malfunction....I kicked it off a tv tray and it landed on the adapter and shoved it inside. We used it for another 6 months after that until I could afford to buy the exact same one again. I loved it and even after I kicked it over and it still worked awesome for that long. I have my mom sold on them too....she currently has a Dell and hates it!

An old friend from college just bought a used Macbook pro.  I don't know who he bought it through, but I know he's super excited about it via his FB updates.

I could put you in touch with him if you'd like.  He's a computer guy, so I know he did his homework first.

That being said, we've had really good luck with Dell.  2 desktops + 1 laptop since dh and I got married in 2005.  All are still running quite well (the dell I'm using right now is over 5 years old- that's a really good life for a computer!)
