FU: T&P Needed For My Mom's BF

Here is the original post:

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my mom's BF was in a motorcycle accident. They began to bring him off of his sedation 2 days ago.

Here is an update from his FB page:

This morning the Dr.?s did a neurological exam of Chris. They tested him for response to pain and stimulus. Chris is functioning at the level he was when he was admitted. He responds to pain in a ?withdrawing? manner but was not able to localize and push away at the Dr?s hands. He had movement in all appendages, more so on his left side. He was able to wiggle the fingers of his left hand. The best response was that Chris opened his eyes in response to pain. These movements indicate that Chris has no major brain stem damage. We have no way of knowing Chris?s cognitive levels, but the results of his neurological exam are great news. During the exam, Chris?s ICP (intracranial pressure) went to the high 20?s. The Dr.?s had to re-sedate Chris, and will take him off sedation tomorrow morning. They increased his pain medications since they believe the increase in ICP is due to the amount of pain he is in. Thank you all for the prayers and support, they?re working.

For those of you who have had him in your T&P, our families are grateful!

Are you an ICU nurse? I know that he is going to have a long recovery, but this is positive news, right? A step in the right direction?

*Forgive me if I am getting you mixed up with someone else. I thought in one of my previous posts you made a comment that made me think you knew about these types of injury*

  • I am so sorry. You and your family are in my prayers.
