Once again, this seems to be something I trace back to my social circle as being "the norm".
We have a large social circle in a small community - so even when you dislike someone, you keep them close... to quote Moo. ;D
That's exactly how it is here. I have maybe 3 really close friends that I spend time with, but we all "hang out" with a bigger circle of people...and this town is really small, so you just have to take it as it is and deal with the certain drama that comes with it.
Kind of. There is a girl that I am "friends" with in my college circle of friends from college...my college boyfriend cheated on me with her, and so we definitely went through a period where I couldn't stand to be in the same room with her, but still had to because we lived together and were in the same sorority. I'm still friends with her, and have forgiven her for what happened, but I still don't trust her.
Nope. I have people that I don't particularly care for that I'm cordial to, since I'm an adult and all of that jazz. I don't kiss their butts and act overly friendly though.

That's an interesting story!
There are definitely people that I'm casual friends with and don't trust. You know how this area is though -- very small. And "cliquey".
Speaking of, I found a 2nd degree connection we have on fb.

Re: Random question about friends
Sadly, the answer for me is yes.

I work with people I do not like but you would never know it. Does that count?

Sometimes I wish I could be all "to hell with them" and not have relationships like that. Unfortunately I still have ties that bind in my situations.
