Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What temp = hospital?

DD went to the dr this morning after having a 101.3, tylenol brought it down, he thinks it may be roseola since I know another girl in her swim lessons had it. She is now up to 102.6 and has had tylenol already she can't get another dose for about 40 minutes. I have a call into a nurse (my pedi's office is closed), but I am just wondering what your dr's say?

Re: What temp = hospital?

  • DS was at 103.7 one time, and even then the doc said give him tylenol, and she saw him a few hours later.

  • DD's was up to 103 and pedi told us to bring her there (not the hospital)... it's just a bad cold though so there's nothing really that can be done for her.

I hope your LO starts feeling better.  Winter needs to be OVER.

  • I'm not sure, but while you are waiting for the nurse to call back, I'd stick him in a lukewarm bath.

    Hang in there.

  • If you have Baby Advil you can try that.  Pedis recommend a combo of the two to bring down a fever.   I find this helped a lot.
  • Try not to worry. The doctors aren't too concerned at this age. I was finally told to bring my daughter into immediate care when her temp was 104.6 and she was lethargic.
  • Our pedi says over 104.  DS was right around there/just below it and we ended up going to the pedi that day, not the hospital.
  • 104 after tylenol...it also has to stay for awhile (I don't remember the timeline).

DD has had 104 before and the doc wan't concerned because it went down within the timeline.

Right now she's rocking a consistant 101.5 fever. Fun day.

  • DDs got over 104 when she had strep about two weeks ago. They told us to bring her in if it hit 105 or she had other symptoms like becoming lethargic. She hated it, but a cold washcloth really helped a lot in addition to the tylonol.

  • If one of my kids got to 105+ (or in the 103-104 range that were not coming down or creeping up with meds) then I'd go.

  • Have you tried motrin?

  • I was told over 104 and doesn't come down.I remember when I was a kid I had a fever of 106 something and my mom rushed me to the ER. All they really did was make me strip down to my underwear and put cold wash cloths on me. They monitored my temperature and it eventually started to fall so I was able to leave.

  • Thanks for the responses. This thing is still going strong, its up to 103.1 now. DH is on his was with motrin nowN she's had 2 baths and I have a washcloth on her. She was shivering and lethargic before so I called again and was told to just keep doing what I'm doing. I am going to keep an eye on her for now though because this is scary! Sorry for any mistakes, I'm on my phone w her sleeping in my lap.
  • I was at the pedi with DD2 yesterday and her fever was at 103.9, and he didn't bat an eye.  Alternate Tylenol with Motrin every 4 hours and see if it comes down.  Give her Pedialite and keep her cool with a bath or wash cloths

I hope she feels better soon.
