Cloth Diapering

Snap vs Aplix?

Going to be making my first CD purchases here pretty soon and I was wondering what everyone opinon is on snap vs aplix. Which one do you like more? Any mom's that used both? I would love to hear you opinion on each of them.

 TIA!

Re: Snap vs Aplix?

  • The only snap diapers that I like are the Bumgenius 4.0s. I prefer these over aplix. I hate all other snap diapers. There are too many snaps to align for me while LO is trying to escape.

I wish that I bought more snap diapers. LO can  undo the aplix (he really quite enjoys it). I always thought that would be no problem, just always keep clothes on him, right? Wrong. He can undo the aplix even with clothing over the diapers, it just takes longer.

  • Thank you for the input. I just ordered one bumGenius 4.0 snap, but I think I am going to stash up on both and hopefully we will figure out what we like and then go from there....

  • I have a good stash of both, and don't have any major preference of one over the other. Aplix allows for more adjustability, but babies have a harder time figuring out snaps. That being said, the only aplix DD has figured out is on my Thirsties diapers. It's too "sticky" for her with my Kawaii, Blueberry, BG, and Happy Heinies.
  • Although I prefer snaps because they're easier to launder and they wear better, it's nice to have some of each. Aplix are easier for grandma's/grandpa's/babysitters and you can get a better fit with it, but my DD can remove all of her aplix diapers, so they get covered up right after they go on.

  • I have both. APlix was way better when DS was itty bitty, I could not ever get the snaps to fit right. Now that he isbigger I likeboth - as PP said, aplix is faster, and better fit but snaps look nicer and wear better.  Not sure about LO taking off his diaper with aplix as he isnt big enough but I do know that DS1 never took off his diaper and he was a sposie baby - but I rarely kept the diaper uncovered since they arent cute - so who knows. I have a while aplix stash for daycare and babysitters - DH used to use them too but I dont have enough for him and daycare so I make him use snaps now - he doesnt always get themright but at least he changes him occassionally! hth
