NIFR: recommend your favorite books

I have a bunch of gift cards to borders to use up- that i just got- and then learned the borders by me (among others) is closing.  and some are closing starting this Saturday.  This sucks b/c B&N by me closed too.  So sad.  I understand people are using the kindle, nook, etc.  but there's still a need for bookstores.

So- tell me your favorite books - Thanks

  • The Stand by Stephen King

(haven't read it yet but heard it's awesome) The Hunger Games

ETA: Of course The Stand is kind of creepy since it's a Stephen King book but IMO, there is no better story teller than the King and the book has SO much more to it than the scary parts!

  • My favorite book of all times is the Count of Monte Cristo.  Other favorites include The Time Traveller's Wife, the Hunger Games trilogy, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and the Outlander Series.

I also really liked the Harry Potter books, the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson and the Sookie Stackhouse books (while there are some technical errs in the writing, I can't put them down).

    Happy reading!!

I really hate that borders is going into bankruptcy and closing a bunch of stores.  There are a few around me that are closing.  Luckily the one closest to me isn't closing and well, I got a kindle for Christmas so I am mostly downloading books these days.
