Natural Birth

Hypnobirthing!

I'm very excited to be using the hypnobirting method for our birth in the begining of May!  Are there any moms who have used this method and had success??  I'm trying to surround myself with positive information, so no horror stories please!

  • Haven't had the baby yet, but plan on using it!  DH and I are very excited to utilize everything we have learned in class (and in the book).  I plan on posting our birth story once it happens, so hopefully you will get a chance to read about it then :)

  • Thank you ladies for the info!  I'm just nervous b/c the hypnobirting teacher in my area is taking a break for the winter and won't start teaching the class again until April, so I've only been using the book and the CD(s).  Was there anything in class that you learned that you didn't learn in the book???  Also, do you find youself passing out when you listen to the CD?, b/c I can't get through 1 track without going to sleep!  I hope you both have wonderfully relaxed births!

  • I had a great experience with hypnobirthing.  At least once a day, I reflect on my baby's birth day, it was so wonderful.  I delivered in a hospital and was never even tempted to get an epi or any form of medicated pain relief for that matter.  After my delivery, my MW asked me if I had felt anything!  That's how relaxed and in control I was.  I did feel the surges, but it was always manageable.

You are doing all the right things, keep practicing and surrounding yourself with positive stories/energy.  Don't worry about falling asleep during the CDs, I always did that too.  That's how you know it's working.

I love talking about my experience, so if you want more details (nothing is TMI for me), feel free to PM me.

You are giving your baby a beautiful birth!

  • Thanks sschwege!  Very helpful!  The last thing that I'm slightly worried about is the fact that my daughters birth was very painful and almost 30 hours long, b/c I knew nothing about hypnobirthing.  Part of me is very confident that I will have a succesful hypnobirth, but the other part of me, the smaller, but more worrying part, dreads that I won't be able to get into my "happy place" as like to call it and relax for this upcoming birth.  Sorry just had to get al my fears out there...somehow it feels better writing it down!

This is my first and I am also due in May, but everyone likes to tell me their horror stories. I just try to stay positive and tell myself that they didn't have this knowledge to help them get through. I think being confident and pushing away the thoughts of pain is the best way to overcome the fear. I hope it works for both of us :)
