Toddler moms - what time does LO go to bed?

Dundas' post below made me realize a lot of toddlers must go to bed later than Cal.  Even though I work outside the home FT and wish on one hand that I could spend more time with Cal, on the other hand I am grateful to have a few hours of down time in the evenings (and I feel guilty for feeling that way).

So, a poll for you...

1) What time does LO go to bed?

2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)?

3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

4) What time is LO's nap?

5) How long is LO's nap?

Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed?

    7:00pm

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)?

He goes through phases - right now it's between 5:00 & 6:00am, so anywhere from 10-11 hours sleep, total.

    2) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

He's ready - more than ready.

    2) What time is LO's nap?

11:30am at his babysitter's; usually earlier at home.

    3) How long is LO's nap?

    Usually 2 hours.
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? 8 pm or 8:30 pm (it's 8:30 if my stepchildren are there)

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? 6 am (close to 10)

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? It just evolved.  The older kids have activities on the weeknights, so it's gotten later, especially if DH is working and I have to do the transporting which includes bringing Claire. This later time (8:30) has not been a negative thing.

    4) What time is LO's nap? 12 at our house, closer to 1 at daycare

    5) How long is LO's nap? 3 hrs at our house, 1.5 or 2 at daycare

  • 1.  Between 6:30 and 7:30.

    2. Aounrd 7, sometimes earlier, sometimes later.  About 12 hours total.

    3. She's ready then.  If we are busy doing something or out and about, she can stay up much later.

    4. She naps around noon, for 2 hours.

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? DS 6:45 (new thing.. not sure how it is working out...) DD 7:00-7:15

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? DS 5:00-5:30am (if we are lucky - 10.5 hours) DD 6:30-7:00am (12ish hours)

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?
Both - we had been letting DS stay up until 7:15 but only so he would get to see DH.  They are ready by 7:00 for sure

    4) What time is LO's nap? 12:15

    5) How long is LO's nap? 1.5 - 2.5 hours (usually around 2)

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed?

Both kids go bed at 7pm

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)?

    7am - so, 12 hours

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

you could set a clock to both kids... lol

    4) What time is LO's nap?

    they both nap from 12-3

    5) How long is LO's nap?
    3 hours on average

    Rylee - 3.28.08
    Malakai - 8.3.09
    Ezra - 12.1.11 ASD
  • I will add, that the last hour or so that she's up is total down/vegging time.  We do an episode of Dora at 7 pm, then books or puzzles, snuggling, etc.  Most nights, she's in bed 8.

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? 8pm

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? 7am - 11 hours (eta: he likes to sleep about 11 hours.  If he goes down earlier/later he will wake earlier/later accordingly).

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? Sort of both, we followed his cues and eventually settled into an evening routine where both boys go to bed at 8 so he expects it now even if he's not very tired.

    4) What time is LO's nap? He goes down after lunch 12:30/1

    5) How long is LO's nap? Average 1.5 hours, he's not very consistent though... sometimes as little as 45 minutes sometimes as long as 3 hours. I can't figure out what makes the difference though...

  • The girls go to bed at 8:00 or 8:15.

On weekdays, I wake them up at 7:15.  On weekends, they usually wake up between 8:00 and 9:00.

We implemented the time, and they're ready then.

They go down for a nap around 12:30 and wake up around 2:00 or 2:30.  So about 1.5 or 2 hours.

Weekdays, she gets up because DH is taking a shower and she can hear it (around 6:45am) so 11.5-12 hours and weekends she gets up around 7:30am so 12 hours.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

    OH she's ready lol.

    4) What time is LO's nap?

    Usually around 12:30 or 1pm

    5) How long is LO's nap?

Depending on the day 45 minutes to 2 hours.

    1) What time does LO go to bed?

    The 4 year-old goes to bed around 7:45 and the 2 year-old around 7:30.

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)?

They both get up between 6-7am.  So, around 10-11 hours of sleep.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

I set the bedtimes but really, if they stay up any later they are just in that crazy tired but hyperactive mode.  Neither of them fight bedtime so I figure their bodies want to go to sleep around that time.

    4) What time is LO's nap?

    The 4 year-old doesn't nap anymore and the 2 year-old naps from around 1-3.

    5) How long is LO's nap?

Two hours is the average but sometimes it's not even an hour and other times it's three or even more.  It just depends on the day.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? between 7:15-8:00 depending on what we are doing in the evening and how long of a nap she took. (ETA- according to my MIL this makes me a "mean mommy."  Apparently she thinks I should let dd stay up later.)

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? between 7:30-8:00am. That is when we get her up but I know she's awake by 7:00 and she just plays. If we go in to early she tells us "no" because she's not ready to get up. She gets between 10-12 hours of sleep.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? A bit of both.

    4) What time is LO's nap? 1:00 pm

    5) How long is LO's nap? 1-2 hours depending on how late she slept in and how much activity she had in the morning.

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? 6:30-7am (11-11.5 hours)

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?  I think he's ready.  He never fights it.  Sometimes he chatters or "reads" his books.  But generally, he's asleep in about 20-30 minutes.  We've found that no matter when he goes to bed, he wakes at the same time.  And since he doesn't fight it, we go with it.

    4) What time is LO's nap? 1pm

    5) How long is LO's nap? 2-3 hours.  3 hours is rare.  Usually more like 2.

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? anytime after 7

    4) What time is LO's nap? Usually around 12:30 or 1

    5) How long is LO's nap? Reed could be 3 hours, Penny usually 2.  They always sleep shorter periods when I have my niece since she only sleeps for 1-1.5 hours.

DH is away and the night before last Reed was up until like 8:30...That is why I was so happy about them both being in bed asleep for me last night.

  • Re: Toddler moms - what time does LO go to bed?

    -->

    1) What time does LO go to bed? between 9:00 and 10:00 Sad she would probably go down btw 7-8pm but my work schedule doesn't allow and this has been killing me forever..ugh

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? Around 7-7:30 (He sleeps 10-1/2 most times)

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? she would go down earlier but I don't get home till 7pm most days and because she goes to bed late her whole schedule is late, so most times she has dinner with us and then because of her pooping issues I wait around for her to try and go #2, by the end of all this it is closer to 9pm

    4) What time is LO's nap? During the week: mostly 3pm (lately unpredictable) for 1-2hrs. On the weekends she goes down by 11am and will nap for 3hrs +

    5) How long is LO's nap? see above

I have major working mommy guilt over this...I know it would be better for her if she went to bed earlier but we just can't  :(

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? We take him upstairs to start bedtime routine around 7:30-7:45 but he's not asleep until 8:15-8:30 (we snuggle for a bit on our bed, then play in his room, then bath, jammies, lotion, stories, etc. and then one of us lays with him in his room until he falls asleep which usually takes 10-20 mins.

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? between 6:30 and 7 am most days. He usually sleeps 10-10.5 hours.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? We couldn't do any earlier since we don't even get home until 7 and by the time we're done eating dinner we go upstairs. We could skip part of our routine process to have him asleep sooner but (a) he doesn't fall asleep as easily and (b) he wakes up eariler. I'd rather have the extra hour of sleep in the morning than the extra hour at night.

    4) What time is LO's nap? Usually around noon.

    5) How long is LO's nap? An hour if we're lucky, often more like 30 mins. Daycare often claims 2 hrs but I think they're full of it.

    *** It's funny because I'm fat ***

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? They are definitely ready by 7:00.

    4) What time is LO's nap? Usually 12:30 - 2:30/3:00

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed?  7-7:30 (on weekends sometimes it's more like 8-8:30 depending on what we're doing)

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? Gets up at 6:30 on weekdays and 7:30 on weekends.  11-12 hours of sleep/night.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?  Miles told us when he was tired.  At first we just noticed him rubbing his eyes and later we could tell a shift in his behavior that told us it was time for bed.  If we ignore his signs we're in trouble for bathtime, which is before bed.

    4) What time is LO's nap?  Goes down for nap sometime between 11-1 daily.

    5) How long is LO's nap?  Naps for 2 hours typically, sometimes less and sometimes more.

I also work outside the home, full-time and feel guilty because I cherish the time DH and I get alone in the evenings after he goes to bed.  We watch movies, TV, chat, and (sometimes) enjoy dinner by ourselves uninterrupted.  I just make sure the time I have with Miles in the evenings is uninterrupted MILES time.  He gets my undivided attention.

  • 1) What time does LO go to bed? 7pm

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? Lately, around 6ish, but when she isn't teething, around 7:30...so anywhere from 11 to 12.5 hours

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? She set that time for herself...I wanted it to be 9pm so she would have some time with her Daddy, but she can't last that long.

    4) What time is LO's nap? Noon

    5) How long is LO's nap? 2 to 2.5 hours on a great/normal day...1.5 hours on a crappy/teething day

DD has never really had a consistent schedule. She develops patterns, but they tend to change after awhile... this is what the last month or so has been for us...

    1) What time does LO go to bed? Between 6:30-7 (sometimes as early as 6:15)

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)? Anywhere between 5:45-7:30, most often between 6:30-7:00. She typically gets between 11-12.5 hours of sleep per night

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then? A little of both... she is definitely ready by then (she usually is asleep within 5-10 minutes) but we realized that she slept so much better (and longer!) if we put her down by 6:30

    4) What time is LO's nap? At home (5 days/week) she usually naps 2-3 hours after she wakes up, so she goes down somewhere between 8:30-10. If she is done with this nap before 11-11:30, she often takes a 2nd nap around 1 or 2. She goes to daycare 2 days/week and she naps around 12:00 there.

    5) How long is LO's nap? Usually 1.5-2 hours, sometimes a bit longer or shorter (typically closer to 1-1.5 hours at daycare)

We have realized that DD really seems to need about 14-15 hours of sleep/day, so if she sleeps worse at night, she'll take a longer or an extra nap. Her eating, behavior, and even nighttime sleep is so much better when she consistently gets enough sleep everyday!!

Umm .. pretty late these days.  Like - 10pm-ish.

    2) What time does LO get up (and how many hours sleep is that?)?

    8:30, sometimes 9am.

    3) Was this time implemented by you, or is s/he simply ready then?

We get home from work late - and just rarely get him to bed earlier than that.

    4) What time is LO's nap?

    2pm

    5) How long is LO's nap?

    2 hours

    Wheee!
