Parenting after 35

I'm curious re: shots

Delaney was 15 mos. On Jan 26th. Since she had an ear infection, she didn't get her shots and was still sick two weeks later. We go back next week and IF she is not sick she'll get her shots then. A month later. Do you think this means I'll have to put off her 18 month appt. until 19 months? I know the pedi will tell me next week, but this is what I think about in the morning while drinking my coffee!

Re: I'm curious re: shots

  • I'm trying to remember, but I think C just had one shot at 15mo, and it was the chicken pox vaccine.. I think.   So I would think her next round would be different stuff.

But I'm bad about keeping track of these things.  That's why they give me a sheet of paper that I never look at that tells me stuff.

  • I know we went in for something just before one of her well baby appointments. She wasn't sick - I think I wanted him to check her eyes/pupils - so no fever or anything - and I asked if she could get some of her shots at that appointment so she would have less shots in the next week. The nurse checked the chart and said they wouldn't because it hadn't been 6 months in between. I mean, it was off by a week so I thought they would - but no. Of course, the one thing we have learned for sure on this board is that every Pedi/DR is different.

  • Robby had the chicken pox vacc today. He will have the pentacel (HIP, Detap & Polio combo) at 18 months along with the 2nd chicken pox vacc.

so for us, 1 today and 2 at 18 months

I wouldn't think you'd have to wait til 19 months for her next appt but, I guess that depends on what she gets at her 15 month appt?

  • So funny you posted this... M was 15mos on Feb 2nd and still has not had her 15 mo appt yet!!  The docs office is changing to a paperless system and is closed (only seeing sick patients) so when I scheduled her appt they gave me one for March 1st.  A whole month later!  So I asked your exact question to the nurse on the phone and she said it would not affect her 18 mo shots b/c there just had to be 8 weeks in between.  Hopefully she knew what she was  talking about  Wink

  • One month shouldn't make a difference. She can't get her shots if her ears are infected.
