Success after IF

question for those who had 2+ children with IUI

Hi, wow, it's been a while since I've frequented an IF board. My daughter is an IUI baby--it was our second IUI cycle that was successful (menopur + ovidrel). She's now almost 8mo. old and she's weaning from nursing so that we can try for #2. Just wondering if anyone else is/was in a similar situation. How long after you finished nursing did you go back to the RE for an IUI cycle? How many IUIs did it take to conceive that second time?

TIA!

Re: question for those who had 2+ children with IUI

  • I can't respond about BFing because we were not able to, but I can say that we went back to the RE when DS 1 was 6 months old. DS2 took three of the same cycles that got me pregnant with DS1 (DS 1 was on our first injectable/iui)

I responded differently post baby, which is not uncommon. In all, it took three for my first, and three for my second. My third snuck in there!

  • It took us 17 months but if they would have listened to me and just med'ed me the same as with DD's successful cycle it would have been 2 cycles.

::snort:: Yeah... I was in that boat too!

I weaned DD @ 13 months, and when she was 15m we did IUI#1, then #2, took a cycle off (went back to my original RE) and this last cycle #3 was a BFP.

The "new" RE didn't seem to care how long I had weaned, just as long as I wasn't nursing.

My original RE was good with her protocols, she got me KU both times on her first try with good meds.

    GL!!!!

  • I didnt BF, so I cant comment to that.

But we did injects/trigger/IUI for both pregnancies. With DS1 we got pregnant the first time we made it to IUI (I had a couple of cancelled cycles due to overstimming). With DS2 it took two cycles of the same protocol to get pregnant.

    Good luck!
