Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Speaking of bottles:

When will absolutely stop giving your LO bottles?

I ask this because there is a 3-year-old at Kylie's DC who gets a bottle every afternoon when her parents get there to pick her up. I just couldn't see giving a 3-year-old a bottle. But, maybe that's just me.

Re: Speaking of bottles:

  • At 1 year the bottle is gone. We are already transitioning her towards that. It may be sooner since she is doing so well.

  • We got rid of it at 9 months and there has been no looking back.

I agree. We also are getting rid of the binky at 1 year old. I will be on vacation, so it will be a good time to be vigilant about sippys and no binks.

  • I wish we were on sippys now but they haven't figured out how to tilt their heads back yet.  I'm hoping by 1 year they'll be gone.

How did you do this? Isaiah refuses to drink anything but juice or water out of his sippy. I have tried cold milk, warm milk, nothing works

  • 100% bottle free for 2 months now.
  • We are trying now but she has no interest in any type of sippy cup. She just keeps throwing them off her tray or onto the floor. I have tried the "she'll take it if she's hungry enough" but she won't. We have literally tried every type of sippy cup.

I think I must be really lucky. I didn't really do anything special. I just stopped giving him bottles, haha.

  • We switched to goat's milk, maybe that has something to do with it. He really likes it. What if you try a different kind of milk like almond or coconut?

  • I'm pulling the plug at 12m.  I don't think it's a big deal to let them keep the a little longer - but 3 is really old to still have a bottle, especially in the middle of the day.
