We are looking at possibly getting Hayden a new car seat. I am not 100% happy with his seat and it was part of yesterday's recall so that has me on the hunt. I know the Britax seats are wonderful and highly recommended but I don't have $200 minimum to spend on a seat. I know there are cheaper options out there that are great as well. So hit me with them!!!
Re: Recommend your convertible carseat that is NOT a Britax
We have an Evenflo Symphony and I honestly don't like it. We rented a car on a trip recently, and also rented a seat. It was a Cosco Scenera and Sam LOVED it. I'm thinking about getting it for "trips" - but probably for every day too. The Symphony will probably be better forward facing and as a booster, but rear facing it is huge and seems to sit too upright - even though it is level with the ground. The Scenera is a steal at $50-60 depending on pattern and retailer.
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
We have The First Years True Fit - got if for $99. We have it for Lil J and have not used it RF. He is 5 and still is very comfortable in it. It has a neat way of adjusting the harness level without having to retread the entire seat - which is great when thay are FF, since you don't have to uninstall the seat.
We will probbaly buy another one for Cora soon

That is what I am looking to do. BRU has their 25% trade in promotion going until Monday so we could make the seat we choose more affordable.
Thank you all so much for the recs! I have several websites with several of these seats open in other windows on the computer for DH to look over when he gets home from work.
Ditto. We have them in both cars and love them, especially the way the straps are so easy to adjust.
We have 2 Evenflo Triumph Advances. The biggest reason we chose this seat was b/c it was top-rated by Consumer Reports for its category. Secondly, it is much less expensive than some other popular seats.
We've been very happy with it!

LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
just be aware that the scenera is a big pain with straps twisting and a pain to change, tighten and loosen. We use this carseat RARELY it is in my moms car, but I cannot stand it.
I think there is a 1st years that is popular, too. Also there is another Evenflo model that people seem to like.
We have True Fits and love them. So easy!
We have Sceneras for my moms car. I had trouble installing them too. There is a piece that you have to pull out on the bottom that isn't very visible and I had trouble threading the belts and got them in the wrong place the first time. They aren't very cushion-y and wouldn't want to use them as an every day seat.
