DD was not in a school setting prior to starting preschool last week, so we declined the flu vaccine. 3 weeks ago, in preparation for preschool we (per state law) had her receive the flu vaccine. The Pedi stated that since she was getting for the first time, she would need a booster in 4 weeks.
Yesterday I went to make the shot only appt for the booster and nurse asked me who my insurance was (Aetna) and put me on hold. I know some insurance companies don't cover flu shots (mine does). She came back on the line and told me they don't have any in and wasn't sure if they were going to be getting more for "insurance patients".
WTH does that mean?
If I'm paying OOP, can I "buy" my daughter the flu vaccine that the Pedi required her to have?
Re: Flu shot/insurance/Pedi Office ?
Because we're fancy like that.
I had Aetna up until last month and it was covered by insurance. I know each policy is different though.
If they were out of the booster shots, she should have known this before putting you on hold. I would call back and speak to someone else.
I should also mention this since we live in the same state, a lot of my friend with preschoolings never went back to get the booster shot and the first shot was enough to pass the state regulations.
