Travel website suggestions ?

We are trying to book a trip for our friends destination wedding. The website I normally use is allinclusiveoutlet.com or bookit.com, but their "deals" right now for the place we want to stay at are ridiculous.

Anyone have any good travel sites to recommend? Specifically for Riviera Maya, Mexico?

Thanks!

  • Try locogringo.com for that area. We have used them twice and trust them immensely!

  • hmmm, the website won't load. I'll have to try and check it again later.
  • Have you been there before? If not, I have tons of good suggestions for you.

    If you're looking for last-minute deals, I like travelzoo.com, but if not, I'd try Kayak.com or cheapcaribbean.com

GL! I'm so jealous.  We went to Riviera Maya for our honeymoon, and it was gorgeous.  I serously think about it and miss it every day.

It's not til August, but I'll give the other two a try.

I really hope we can go, as it stands right now the place they are having the wedding at is over $2900 per person for 7 nights. Last week when we were checking it was only $1600 per person....hopefully I can find a better deal somewhere!

I have only been to Cancun, once. I'd love suggestions!

Ah, that is closer to Cancun, right? Well, let me know if you will be able to venture south, closer to Tulum and Akumal- there are some really awesome things to see and do down there!

  • I love tripadvisor- it has a forum similar to TB so you can chat with people who have been to various hotels.  It was very helpful.

  • Also, we stayed at Catalonia Royal Tulum which does not allow children (though there is a sister resort that does- catalonia something, can't remember the name of that one).  It was nice- amazing beach (pretty much private beach, it's the only hotel on it) and great pool.  It wasn't 5 star or anything but reasonable and good service over all. We got an AMAZING deal, but that was back during the swine flu outbreak when everyone was scared to go to Mexico.  We stayed for 7 days, all-inclusive for $1050 (for both of us, not per person)!!

The website for it says it is 35 miles south of Cancun in Riviera Maya. I think it is close to Tulum.

Ah good- I think it must be a newer resort. Remind me on a day when I'm not home with Sarah- I will tell you where to go to snorkel with the sea turtles (for free) and how to get around cheaply, etc.

  • I just got back a few weeks ago from a wedding at Dreams Tulum!

Did the bride and groom book with a travel agent? Depending on how many people book, they end up getting deals- the prices often lower when you reach a certain number of people.

I will tell you- Dreams is pretty unbelievable- and worth every penny!

No, they aren't booking through a travel agent - or doing a block of rooms so we are on our own to find the best deal. Glad to hear it is nice though! It sure is expensive :)
