we would have (because we'd get the deduction plus qualify for the first, and hopefully last time, for the EITC) but we had delayed compensation (they paid our expat taxes) from H's last company that we didn't know about. So, now we owe instead. Fun times.
I am so hoping for a nice return to wipe out the last of our credit card debt. Plus we are TTC and need a cushion since i got put on bedrest last time. I know this wasn't very helpful in terms of answering your question but I just wanted to say i am in the same boat. Hope some people who have done their taxes respond to this post!!
42 yrs old. DS born 4/10/11 after 2 losses
TTC # 2 for a year
AMH .3. FSH 7 AFC 6
Doing a CLOMID IUI cycle
We used to get about $2600 back and this year our refund will be $4100. We were thinking changing things next year so that we got back less, but instead, we've decided that a large chunk of the money will go to DS's college fund each year. It's easier for us to do it that way that save weekly/monthly.

I think we normally get around $3000 back (more last year, since we did home renovations, and got the energy tax credit), and I think we're getting a little more this year but not a huge amount. I think it depends on how much you make - I don't think we're getting the full deduction for having Liam, but we'll see what the accountant comes back with.
Not yet, but I just hope we don't owe this year. Last year, we had messed something up in the taxes coming out of our checks, so we tried to compensate earlier this year.
Our were too different from other things to really tell. It was the first year that I was unemployed the whole year, so our income was substantially less. Because money was so tight, DH changed his witholdings mid-year to maximize take-home cash, which reduces your return, obviously. Because I did not have state taxes removed from my UE compensation, we are getting totally screwed, and ended up owing the state almost $400. We're getting over $3000 back from federal though. We use TurboTax, and I did run the numbers without him included, and he made about a $1600 difference overall.
ETA: Overall we are getting back substantially less than usual because of the significant decrease in income.

This is our first year with 2 and we saw a major increase in our return. Bring on the bathroom renovation!
This except we will be building a large shed/small barn for storage due to our one car garage being to small for everything, and putting some in the kids' accounts. I would love a new tub, maybe I should look into that too...
