Yep. Normally I have the same thoughts. Yesterday was all about his thought and the surprise. I'd rather blow the money on a new bag or new shoes, but I have to admit the flowers are beautiful. In 10 years, He's sent me flowers 2x - the other time was when I went to work full time and put my baby in daycare.
Its the unexpected things, I think. 
I understand. But I can honestly say I wouldn't ever be excited he bought me flowers. If he woke up one morning and went and cut flowers out of my garden, I'd think it was a little more thoughtful but I wouldn't care THAT much. Now, if he surprised me with a really nice bottle of wine or chocolate, that would be good. But I hate flowers and I hate jewelry (I'm the anti-girl?).
If people like it, that's great! I don't judge anyone for that. It's just not me.
Oh, and I despise surprises. Despise them.
