What does BRU do with traded in items?

I traded in the girls' infant car seats tonight, and noticed that they were loaded onto a card marked 'to be destroyed'.  Do they really destroy them?  The car seats I traded in (with the same design and everything) are still on the store shelves!

    They probably do destroy them. They don't know if they've been in an accident or otherwise had the integrity of the car seat rendered unsafe. Better be safe than sorry!

    I think that's the point of the whole trade in event.  To get old and potentially unsafe baby gear out of circulation.
