Success after IF

I am a mommy group drop out!

So in an effort to get DD to be more social and for me to meet other moms in our area I joined a local mommy group. I have to say- I HATE it! I went to a few events, but they were just not my style. I feel so bad, I wish I could like it. I just have NOTHING in common with these women. I usually do so well with organized groups, I was really big in my sorority in college, and I'm a member of the Junior Leage here in Las Vegas, but for some reason this group is just not working for me.

Anyone else a mommy group drop out!?

  • I guess I am too, though I never thought about it that way too.  You don't need to be friends with someone just because you both have a baby around the same age.  I needed to find a group of women who I would have been friends with whether or not we had children.

So, I tried a couple of groups and finally settled on a group of ladies who meet on Fridays.  :)

  • Me too! I tried to join a play group for the babies. I went to one 'mall walk'. The group has a lot of events and right now we're in a solid/ bottle feeding schedule and they basically eat every 2 hours and if they're not eating it's nap time. The schedule of the events was just not working out with our schedule. It's no easy task to get myself and two babies up and out in this weather in a short time frame. Then they were emailing me because I hadn't been to an event and said if I didn't go freqently enough I would be removed from list. Oh well...I don't need pressure like that. So I feel you. Keep trying I am going to because I also do want to have a network of Moms!
  • Yes!  I tried mine out and I could not bring myself to join.  I just knew I wouldn't enjoy it.  What I've had luck with is a breastfeeding support group and an exercise class.  If you try something specific like that it seems to attract people with similar interests.  The exercise class (stroller strides) has a Meetup group affiliated with it.
