Success after IF

Did I brake my baby

Jack has always been a great sleeper, we would put him down awake give him his binky and his puppy and he would put himself to sleep.

There have been a few days in the last few weeks that he fell asleep while we were cuddling and watching tv. It wasn't all in a row just random times. Then last Sunday I put him down and he screamed! This baby NEVER cries so I figured something was up, I went up and rocked him for a little bit got him calmed down but as soon as I put him down he would scream again. After a few times of this I gave him some Tylenol figuring maybe it was teeth, but no luck. I then tried letting him cry it out for a few minutes but I couldn't do it for longer then 4-5 mins. This went on till 10pm. I finally brought him downstairs (I know this was my mistake)  and he was up playing like it was the middle of the afternoon. I finally gave him his bink and held him till he was out and all was good.

But now this week he has cried almost every night that I put him down. Tonight we did out regualar routine, dinner, bath, bottle, story, bed. And he screamed, I let him go and after 5 mins he fell asleep. I know 5 mins isn't long but it is when he never cries and I am not used to having to let him cry it out.

Did I break the baby by spoiling him? Do I have to keep this tough love up to get him back to his routine? Could it be teeth? Is this a phase they hit around 7 months?

Help!!

Re: Did I brake my baby

  • You didn't break him, it is probably phase! He could be teething or any number of things. You might just have to let him CIO, if you are ok with that.

  • You didn't break Jack!  he's going thru a phase and this too shall pass.

If either of the boys wake up early.... I usually bring him either to bed with me or downstairs to the couch.... I know it's a big no no but I've yet to see this as a cause of something bigger... it's usually due to them teething or something like that!

  • I'm saying phase because I could have written a very similar post! We didn't break our babies, they just need a little extra love at bedtime right now. And just incase it works for you too, I was able to put him in his crib with his crack seahorse and he put himself to sleep like he used to. I think the glow distracted him enough to actually relax instead of flailing around. Hugs!!
