If all you have is a stand-up shower...

How do you wash LO? DH and I are looking at apartments, and we found one that we like, except it doesn't have an actual bath tub. Do you wash LO in a sink or take him/her into the shower with you? I'm wondering what we can do.

  • hmmm....that is a good question. I would probably choose another apartment. Baths are fun and without a tub your LO won't get to have them :(

  • We have a tub, but my DH showers with my son almost all the time.  It is sooooo much easier to me vs. giving him a bath.

My cousin doesn't have a tub and for a long while she bathed her boys in an inflatable tub.  Now they stand in the shower...they are 2 and 4.  HTH!

  • I still use a baby bath tub, occasionally I shower with him but I don't really like too.  I'm always afraid of dropping him.

  • In the last few weeks I've switched from giving DD baths in the tub to having DH hand her to me in the shower. She has decided the best time to practice standing on her own was in the bath tub, so I decided to 86 the tub until she can stand on her own. I was always afraid to shower with her because she's a wiggle worm, but in the shower she hangs on to me pretty well.

  • You can just shower with LO. I've done it with Ds loads of times. He has a blast. You could also pick up a small toddler tub (like those blow up rubber duckie ones) if you want a tub or just a place for him to play.
  • Lily showers with one of us and Nate showers on his own.

We have a bathtub, but it rarely gets used. I don't like the idea of my kid basically bathing in their own filth. Once it gets washed off of your body it should go down the drain, not into the water to get poured over you again.

Yep, it's irrational. But that's how I roll.

This is a test. This is only a test.
